His response to the reporter who asked him about retirement right after a match is up there with the all time greats in wrestling. -

Will wrestling season ever be shortened?
ClawRidesAgain replied to headshuck's topic in College Wrestling
No, the season must be as long and insufferable as possible to demonstrate how tough wrestlers are. Starving through the holidays while everyone else is gorging themselves, losing out on the joy of Thanksgiving and Christmas because "breaks" are really just time for more practices. Injuries don't heal during "breaks" anyway. ...and all this while trying to make the grade. This misery should continue. It is what made us what we are. It is not about "having fun" as some have professed. This is wrestling, after all. -
Lehigh's Rob Rohn was trailing 14-2 late in the third period and mixered OK's Josh Lambrecht for the fall in 2002. 4 pins in a row in the NCAA championships.

Lock Haven endows program thanks to $3.5MM gift

Outstanding. I love seeing this. -
In my opinion, Kolat is/was better. He was a true trailblazer who did things that were unthinkable for a high schooler at the time. Midlands was REALLY tough when he wrestled, arguably tougher than NCAAs.

Is Bartlett possibly more boring than cstall?
ClawRidesAgain replied to Caveira's topic in College Wrestling
In good humor, I refer to BB’s matches as “intermission”. -
Angel Rivera gets to officiate big matches, and the Big10 announcers generally say he is a good ref. That said, I do not like it when he is officiating. It seems like there is always some controvery with his calls, and I think he injects himself too much into the matches. There seem to always be issues with restarts. This is my personal opinion, which may are may not be correct. I wonder what others think.

Willie, I truly appreciate what you guys do to run the forum. I aslo understand the bills need to be paid with some advertising. That said, the experience on phones is not very good with the new ads. There has to be a better way to do it than what is in place right now. There is too much screen coverage and blocking of elements and controls. Desktop is OK. Thanks again for what you guys do. -Phil

I think if Bouz had looked busier, he could have drawn a stall call on Fix. That half decade plus experience was the difference. -
Remember when you could watch PA States for free?
ClawRidesAgain replied to Threadkilla's topic in High School Wrestling
My daughter and her husband were going to go watch PA states in person this year. The tickets were $80 for the pair plus parking. I believe they said tickets were only available online, and each had a $14 "fee" on it. You know, I miss the old barn and reasonably-priced tickets at the gate. Plus, the finals were spotlighted. Ah, the good old days. -

How is Daton Fix still wrestling in college?
ClawRidesAgain replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
At some point, you need to move on with adult life, go the senior route, and allow age-appropriate college kids to wrestle in the limelight. Just my opinion.
