  1. I'm only human.
  2. Can we get rid of the tech for this match-up? An early tech is the only thing I can see dampening this match-up.
  3. UWW announced that Ono was going down to 57kg for Worlds this year, and CP texted him live on yesterday's FRL and Ono responded "Yes. 90%"
  4. The mindset of a champion right there.
  5. It would be awesome to see. Ohio State has opened their doors for Flowrestling many times over the years. They did a similar series IIRC with the super class of NaTo, Bo Jordan, and Kyle Snyder when they came in, I don't remember if it was the same name or not. It's always interesting to get a behind the scenes look at a top tier D1 program.
  6. Spot the lie?
  7. Wow, I completely missed the news of Evergreen getting a program last year. Even just getting an NAIA program in the state is huge for the state. I also didn't know that BBCC graduated from being a club team. Glad to see we're back up from zero. Thanks for the correction.
  8. I didn't realize that Luffman weighed in at 285 and Kueter at 197. That would be an 88 pound discrepancy. As @Husker_Du said, there wasn't anything close to that gap in this match.
  9. With this logic, the ratings for the individual tournament really won't change. You retain the current highest viewed event in wrestling without losing viewership. The team race isn't even a thing this year and rating won't suffer because of it. As you said above, most casual fans don't care about the team results in the individual tournament, so why crown a team title where the team score is a secondary concern? With the team title being granted through a new 8 team dual tournament, the championships, I believe, would break all records regarding viewership of a single wrestling broadcast.
  10. You just don't like fun do you? It's just a topic for conversation as I think the way golf handles their individual based team sport better than wrestling currently does, and how awesome a true dual team national title would be to watch.
  11. Did you read the proposal? There is no more natty title connected to the individual tournament in this scenario. Team results are just a qualifier for seeding.
  12. I'd leave that to the coaches to decide. 1 or 2 week break after NCAAs. I have no idea what the numbers are on guys getting injured at NCAAs. I'd imagine the number wouldn't be all that high to keep them from being able to compete for the team title.
  13. I think your not properly acknowledging the difference of fan engagement for high school athletics vs d1 college wrestling. duals generate more viewership than tournaments outside of the NCAAs for wrestling, and currently they're all but meaningless. If there was a natty title on the line, it would be electric.
  14. Did you read my original post? The individual tournament stays the same and serves as a qualifier to compete in a dual tournament for the national title.
  15. I don't know that I could change your mind, as it may just be a difference of opinion. A dual tournament is just more team centric, in my opinion, than an individual tournament. In duals you win as a team, and lose as a team. Even if you do well as an individual, you can only advance as far as the rest of your team. I always felt like a team during duals and a team of individuals in a tournament (if that makes any sense). I don't know if this made what I am trying to say any clearer or not, but I tried.
  16. Let me translate: HL3's original question was not when could Arnold make the weight, it was when would he be eligible to make the weight, per the rules in place regarding descent plans.
  17. Washington has no sanctioned college programs left.
  18. I just posted this deep on another thread, but I thought it was worth it's own. When it comes to giving out a national title in an individual sport, golf actually does it right. "All 30 teams and six individuals will complete 54 holes of stroke play. Following 54 holes of competition, the top 15 teams along with the top nine individuals not on an advancing team will advance for one additional day of stroke play to determine the top eight teams for match-play competition and the 72-hole stroke-play individual champion. The top eight teams after 72 holes of play will be placed into a bracket thereafter." In wrestling terms, this would be having the NCAA championships to crown the individual national champions at each weight. Then you would take the top 8 scoring teams, and have them face in a bracketed dual tournament for the team title. How anyone could be against this format is absolutely insane to me. It would be awesome watching teams trying to qualify for the team tournament for the first time, or jockeying for seeding position. Imagine a weekend where on Friday you have four duals to watch, Saturday night you have the two semi-finals, and then on Sunday a two hour dual for the national title.
  19. I fundamentally disagree with your view of the concept of team in wrestling. I would agree that in a tournament that the construct of team is artificial, because it is your individuals vs everyone else's individuals. However, in a dual it is your team vs another team. There is a winning team and losing team in a dual. In a tournament, the wins and losses aren't by the team, but by individuals. Aaron Brooks would have taken 18th at last year's NCAAs as an individual. How is that reflective in anyway of a teams value? Golf actually does it right. 20. His two losses on the year are to Yonger Bastida, who spent multiple years at 197, and Luke Luffman, who doesn't look like a bully of a heavyweight. Maybe the problem isn't necessarily the weight, or in issue with Kueter's potential as a collegiate wrestler. Maybe Kueter is someone who was completely dominant as a freak athlete in high school, and now on a more even playing field he is going to have to clean up some things that he used to get away with. He'll be fine fine.
  21. I was going to say the same.
  22. I wouldn't say that he's separated himself into being alone in a second tier, but that he and Bastida (if healthy) are the clear leaders of that tier.
  23. If you ever needed evidence to not trust wrestlestat, there ya go. Of all the weights, I would put Feldman as my fourth most confident pick behind Mendez, Caliendo, and Buchanon. I think Cruz, Bouzakis, D'Emilio, Estrada, Gallagher, Kennedy, and Rogotzke have a better chance of pulling an upset (based on my predictions) than Kueter. Bookmark this and I'll eat it if I'm wrong.
  24. Kueter to win? Bounce back from what? Never beating a ranked wrestler other than Doucet last year? It's not a bounce back it's a massive springboard forward. I think Kueter will be a force next year, but nothing has pointed towards him having a chance against Feldman.
