  1. PSUs bonus numbers are inflated by the majority of their team wrestling virtually no ranked wrestlers prior to the big ten dual schedule. Let's check back at the end of the year. He hasn't wrestled a single AA so far this season.
  2. Here's to Keckeisen beating him in the NCAA finals and he can go down as the least impressive 4xer that lost his final collegiate match.
  3. I just can't imagine having his talent and being content to scrape out a win. Wouldn't you want to go out there and show Ferrari that he has no business being on the mat with you because you are so far above him? This, if anything, did the opposite. No one here is arguing that he should have lost. It's that a guy in his 6th year with 4 titles to his name couldn't even be bothered to score a takedown in the match, and took 1 offensive shot.
  4. They used to field tougher teams than they have in recent years. They may not have had a high volume of AAs but they had consistent respectable lineups. With Volk out, I couldn't name a wrestler in their lineup.
  5. We don't want a push out rule, but we award pushing without actual attempts to score. Additionally, we don't want to reward pushouts, but if you can get OB while someone is in on your leg you get a free restart. Makes perfect sense.
  6. Let the completely subjective arguments commence. Where would you rank the 4xers? I am excluding Pat Smith due to the fact that we don't have bonus stats/enough video to provide evidence to really show his greatness. Mine would be.. 1. Cael - undefeated and absurd dominance 2. Dake - No redshirts, plus Molinaro, St. John, 2x Hodge winner David Taylor all won NCAAs after Dake moved from their weight/graduated. 3. Stieber - Dominance increased year over year sans a "flu loss" to Retherford. Ramos won a title after he moved up, and went on to win a world silver. 4. Yanni D - Only one on the list to win a world medal while still having college eligibility, plus won as a true freshman when he had a 2x champ and returning finalist in his weight. 5. Starocci - Beat NCAA champs Griffith and Lewis multiple times (including on a bum wheel). Should have had a dominant bonus record last year if not for the injury, and has a win over Keckeisen in the All-Star Classic (who has dominated 184). 6. Aaron Brooks - first NCAA appearance followed spending his senior year, and freshman year (he was ranked #6 going into nationals, may have won, but who knows), in the PSU room before ever wrestling at NCAAs. Also only has 1 year where he had a bonus percentage over 70% (when points were boosted unlike for any other 4xers other than last year for Starocci).
  7. You are correct. He did take one shot that wasn't a reattack from the half shot or committed shot. I'm not saying that Starocci was stalling, but it was a pretty pathetic display overall. Is he really that nervous to take a risk and open up against a true freshman?
  8. He only shot on reattacks from I recall. He didn't actually initiate the sequence.
  9. coming out to the Halloween (Michael Meyers) theme like he's going to kill Ferrari and then not once trying to initiate a scoring sequence is clown behavior.
  10. Lol Penn State challenging at this point in the drumming of a dual while up 7-1 in the final match (with riding time locked) is just disrespectful.
  11. He should have said he's like a wet blanket on top.
  12. Did Starocci take an offensive shot in the match? A potential 5x champ wins via a stall point over a true freshman.. Yuck.
  13. To be fair, I thought he was in danger criteria way before it was actually counted.
  14. Uh oh. Here it comes..
  15. Really wishing I could have bet on the PSU -22.5. Mesenbrink tf incoming.
  16. Uh oh. Teemer's going to have to go and get one now.
  17. Kudos to Kasak for the Johnny Cash walkout song.
  18. I wish I could put money on PSU to cover. There are a lot more ways for the nits to cover than Iowa to win 3 matches IMO. Especially with Ayala's health being a question mark.
  19. I picked Mesenbrink to tech Caliendo. If he doesn't score bonus, feel free to tag me and I'll owe you an apology. Caliendo is a great wrestler, but Mesenbrink is going to crush him. Call it disrespect if you wish.
  20. I'd be shocked if Arnold came out at 174, but I'm all for it. Being vague seems to be the Iowa way.
  21. You would know better than me, but I thought the talk was that he would have ideally been at 133 his first two years but couldn't because of Fix? He looks like a solid 149 this year to me, it's just a lack of consistent offense.
  22. I'm curious to see what they do with redshirts next year. I get that they'll want to put a more competitive team on the mat, but after a year of development.. I think long term it makes sense to RS everyone next year. In 2026-2027 you'll have Mauger/Walker with 3 years, Mendoza 4, Crapps 3, Rath 4, Bambinelli 4, Steed 2, Sinclair 3, Stillwell 4.
  23. Yes. All you have to do is look at him to see that a year of maturing will be hugely beneficial. I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't even had to shave yet. Missouri is having a completely injury plagued season and adding him to the lineup might add a few points in March, but it's not like they are relatively close to being in the trophy race.
  24. When did we start counting RS matches on a wrestlers record? Did we just lose the only undefeated wrestler in college history?
  25. Both Nash Singleton and Ryder Block first appear in the rankings on Dec. 9th. Nash Singleton beat Kai Owen who was previously #26. Since Block had a win over Singleton, they move him to 26, Singleton to 27, and Owen at 28. I am not going to do all the research on the rest of the guys, but knowing how flo ranks, I'm assuming 18-25 have all taken losses that have caused them to drop while Block hasn't lost to anyone ranked below him (Zach Redding was #21 when they wrestled). Basically, Flo ranks mostly objectively on wins and losses, and having wrestled such a limited schedule, he has benefited in the rankings from others taking Ls. It will sort itself out in time.
