Perhaps, lol. I’m not sure the “PSU is healthier” narrative is really true. They have certainly had their fair share of injuries. I can’t speak to how good the upper weight coaches are, but Iowa has certainly had their fair share of successful upper weights including many that improved. Cassioppi, Warner, Brands, etc. Their biggest problem this year is not teaching them to not gamble, although those guys probably only would’ve saved them a couple team points last night. I don’t really get the “Iowa angst” as a result of last night anyway, it pretty much went about as expected, except more people thought Woods would win and not Rathjen. The only surprising result IMO was Franek getting dominated, but he wasn’t really expected to win so I don’t think last night changes his outlook for NCAA’s much.

If we’re talking specific to transfer improvement though, all PSU has in its favor is Dean winning a title in a wide open weight and then finishing 7th the next year. How Nagao and Truax do at NCAA’s this year will give us some more data of course.

I guess the PSU bias pays off with 3 HVI posters predicting the correct score, and 3 others only 1 PSU point off. Our closest were @Dogbone and @MLB9 who both were 1 PSU point off and had 28-6, and then @Eagle26, @Barracuda141 and @Pinnacle who were 2 PSU points off. And if we’re comparing to PSU, Hildebrandt was a 4th place finisher that went 1-2 at PSU. Cory Keener went 1-2 in 2 NCAA tournaments at CMU, then went 1-2 at PSU. Looking back, have there been any other transfers since Bubba Jenkins that have won an NCAA title, other than Max Dean and Nick Suriano (x2)? Winning an NCAA title is hard.

I just knew that if I mentioned myocarditis within the vicinity of 2021 someone would probably try to blame it on the vax.
