  1. I think Nagao implied NIL was a factor, he just said PSU didn’t give him the “highest” offer
  2. I know you’re joking, but even in that worst case scenario: 125: 0 133: R12 (3 pts?) 141: 5th (10 pts?) 149: 2-2 (2 pts?) 157: 3rd? (15 pts?) 165: 5th? (10 pts?) 174: 1st (23 pts?) 184: R12 (3 pts?) 197: 2nd (18 pts?) 285: 1st (23 pts?) That’s still 97 points and a likely title
  3. Also the owner of a WIN Journalist of the year award
  4. Agree. I think most of the champs could likely win 1-3 matches at NCAA’s (still an impressive feat of course), but an AA would be rare.
  5. Why would getting girls wrestling into the NJSIAA have anything to do with getting his daughter into Princeton?
  6. I wrestled D3, but I don’t really follow it. We’ve had the discussion about D2/D3 guys competing at D1 NCAA’s before, and I’d guess there might be 1 or 2 guys total across D2/D3 that might place low AA each year, but that’s about it. I do still wish they let the D2 and D3 champs into NCAA’s though… I think part of the reason for that is the eligibility clock though. Someone earlier mentioned Shawn Streck. I don’t believe he would still be eligible in D1
  7. That’s why he was at Cal Baptist?
  8. Flynn may deserve to be a couple spots higher, but not 2 tiers and over 100 points or whatever. If you’re counting Ungar, Sotelo and Moore as quality wins for Flynn then you should probably give Barnett some credit for beating a slew of mid tier guys like Blake West (tech), Tyler Klinsky (major), Dom Mendez (tech), and Tristan Lujan
  9. Sorry, your rating system doesn’t make any sense if McKee and Barnett are so far behind Flynn, who has a similar resume to them and only has 2 wins over other guys on your list.
  10. Ah you are correct, thanks
  11. Yeah, looks like their only “bad losses” are to Drexel and Binghamton. But they beat Rider, Harvard, and Brown. This seems more like Ayres knew this would be a down year than the results being Dubuque’s fault
  12. Stanich is officially out of redshirt now correct?
  13. McKee and Barnett seem way low here. Barnett’s only losses are to McKee, Stanich, Ramos and Terukina. Wins over Flynn and Smith. McKee’s losses are to Ramos, Ayala x2, Peterson, and Jordan. Wins over Barnett and Smith. If I’m not mistaken they are the only 2x AA’s at the weight. I think they’re a good bet for the podium and possibly winning it all.
  14. But people don’t subscribe because of FRL
  15. That’s possible. I’m not sure the economics of FRL. I wouldn’t imagine it’s a big revenue generator considering it’s free to watch, but then again they just got that fancy new studio…
  16. What’s the over/under on AA’s from the Big 10? They have 8 title threats IMO (Ramos, Ayala, Davis, McKee, Barnett, DeAugustino, Smith, Peterson - yes I know McCrone beat Peterson but I don’t think he’s a title threat), but I can’t imagine they get more than like 5 AA’s in total.
  17. Not like they haven’t wrestled multiple times and all ended in the same result. Honestly Hidlay seems like a different wrestler against Brooks though. Hopefully Hidlay stops being so tentative next time they wrestle
  18. Beau is great but if Kasak can go back to 141 it’s not looking like it’d be much of a dropoff
  19. Yeah Basch and Willie discussed this. They seem to think if he wins NCAA’s he might not come back. IIRC they said he is getting married soon and his fiancé is no longer in school.
  20. The only real concern with him is if he makes a stupid political comment or something. But he has a great resume as a coach. A team of AWA alumni might get 2nd at NCAA’s (Keckeisen, O’Toole, Mesenbrink, Peyton Mocco, Matty Bianchi, Greyson Clark, and that’s with Clayton Whiting and Noah Mulvaney on the bench). He just needs to work on developing lower weights — maybe he would be a good fit for Iowa after all .
  21. Agreed, I’m more saying FRL seems like it’s easy money for him, he just goes down to his basement to talk about wrestling a few times a week. I don’t see why he’d stop unless there’s going to be a significant change with his other job(s).
  22. I wondered this as well and it may be true but it’s not like FRL is really interrupting his current coaching. IIRC he gets paid by Flo north of $100k/year and works what, 5 hours a week? Unless maybe they are expanding AWA further
  23. It doesn’t seem like he wants to move. I can’t imagine he goes anywhere but Wisconsin, if anywhere
  24. I can’t remember the whole story now. I don’t think the tweet was really why he left, but it may have been the straw that broke the camel’s back. But yeah, pretty sure that particular tweet was pretty much just saying that Ohio State wasn’t wrestling well
