This is the original post I responded to. It just said MMA, and by using the word funk Askren in particular comes to mind. How many guys that were succesful in wrestling due to “funk” have even seriously tried MMA? Seems like a small sample size. And even if you don’t want to give Askren credit for “beating” Lawler, you gotta give him credit for taking the beating that he did early on and continuing on in the fight. Based on what we saw this weekend I’m not sure Bo could have done the same.

Askren was past his prime by the time he made the UFC. I’m no MMA expert but I’d bet a lot of guys Askren beat in the other leagues were better than anyone Nickal had fought before Saturday. And didn’t guy Bo lost to, come from the league Askren was in?

We were told the only holdup was Bukele not releasing him. When I used the word “ignore” above, I was referring to Stephen Miller’s comments, which “ignored” the part of the ruling that ruled against them. Nonetheless, as I’ve stated previously, I’m aware the ruling stated they needed to “facilitate his release.” The admin claims by offering a plane if Bukele chooses on his own to release him that they’ve satisfied this requirement. But Trump admitted he never even asked. And the official White House X account posted that “he’s never coming back,” IANAL but that doesn’t seem like “facilitation” to me.

Maybe the amount he’s saying he cut was staged. It’d just be surprising to me if he’s considered “small” for 185. But maybe the other guys are just cutting a ton.

Also the other guy did wear an Iowa shirt, that probably caused some of their fans to also root “for” him and not just against Bo
