  1. Ayala and Glazier showed some pretty good “development” IMO
  2. Saw Willie brought this up a little bit ago. IIRC, he hadn’t heard anything about Teemer but did hear that Iowa made an offer to Ramos. I think the theory is that guys being speculated about that aren’t even in the portal could in theory enter the next round and then wrestle second semester only, which I guess makes sense as to why we’re hearing some of these rumors.
  3. If you’re saying the bigger issue with Ferrari isn’t the battery charge that was dropped, wouldn’t that put him along the same lines maybe not even as bad as Long when he went to PSU? He had been guilty of public intoxication and using a fake ID, but don’t believe he had any allegations related to sexual assault.
  4. I think the comment you’re replying to is more about Ferrari specifically and not getting guys from the portal. Ryan has acknowledged he has tried to get guys from the portal.
  5. How many “wealthy” donors have made sizeable donations specific to wrestling though? Richison, Galli (Rob Koll’s friend), Stephen Friedman (Cornell), Bob Nicolls (Iowa), whoever gave the NLWC $4 million or whatever a few years back, are there many more?
  6. Basically the top 60ish teams in D1 + UW Parkside, Millersville, St Cloud State, UPJ, and West Liberty
  7. Coleman Scott tells @Jason Bryant “we may have seen his last days in the sport” https://www.on3.com/news/coleman-scott-coaching-future-last-days-sport-wrestling-oklahoma-state-hall-of-fame/
  8. According to this, in the last UFC card that Nickal was on, four different fighters earned over $2 million. That’s of course not counting endorsements and if they fight more than once a year. https://www.sportbible.com/mma/ufc/ufc-300-alex-pereira-jamahal-hill-max-holloway-510606-20240415 Apparently the average NBA salary is about $10 million.
  9. It is the proper forum. The question is about his impact on college wrestling
  10. I think it’s also what @RandolphTJones was saying. Could definitely see him resurrecting his old quote if he wins a title “you come to Penn State if you want to win titles!”
  11. Money “isn’t an issue” for PSU, but a few years back I believe they had the most by far. Now it seems like OSU and Iowa may have passed them, maybe even tOSU if new coaching hires and rumored NIL amounts are an indication. Yes many guys are obviously still choosing PSU even if they’re not getting the most money there. But if they are able to match some of these competing offers then they’ll be even more unstoppable then they already are. (But yes as stated I know a UFC champ is worth far less than a Fortune 500 CEO).
  12. If Nickal becomes a UFC champ, he will be raking in the dough and could become a big time donor for PSU, although of course he will never have near as much money as Richison. Not to mention I’m sure he will continue talking about how great his experience was at PSU. I don’t really have a favorite team, but I would like to see some more parity. That said, I still gotta root for Bo even though it could ultimately help extend PSU’s dynasty.
  13. I don’t think he’s being disrespectful. I feel like he’s going out of his way to be respectful, by not actually naming the schools he’s taking off the list and just saying “these are my top schools” Elliott has had some other good ones in the past too. and yes this really happened:
  14. Lol that was obviously a joke post by the coach. When Bassett first made the list was before he could be contacted. I’m sure there wasn’t any communication from either side with many of the smaller schools.
  15. What about the crowd that’s upset by it?
  16. Fans of smaller schools that are still on the list seem to be enjoying it
  17. IIRC, didn’t Ryan acknowledge this in a Flo interview?
  18. Doesn’t the Northern Colorado comment kinda contradict your first sentence? I agree it makes him less valuable, but imo it kinda just pushes the tier of teams potentially looking at him down. It’s likely teams that would not normally have a shot at the podium or top 10, and if they have 1 other stud then that person + Ferrari alone could get them in or near the top 10. Although perusing wrestlestat there really aren’t many guys from mid to lower-tier schools ranked in the top 3-5. Here are a few possibilities imo (and I have no idea if any of these teams are interested): Lock Haven (Noto) Ohio (Kellar) SDSU (Devos/Berge + some other likely point scorers)
  19. Guess I was wrong here. Willie said on the show with Basch that Perry is getting paid by OSU for a year (so he doesn’t think Perry to ISU will be official this season). Assume that applies to Coleman too?
  20. Wait a second…he’s the President??? And they just cut a lot of programs apparently
  21. Is Ukraine invited?
  22. And many people say elite athletes aren’t motivated by “bulletin board material”…
