  1. Would think you wouldn't want someone to say "good riddance" to a "great person," right?

Wonder if this gets pushed back due to yesterday’s events?
  3. Yeah I guess that's where the difference is with the Iowa guys then if they can't ORS out of it, since it seems Fix's ORS was essentially counted as part of his suspension.
  4. Yeah first I'm hearing of this as well
  5. Yes Hokit was who I brought up initially but it was pointed out that he never actually played in a regular season game. I wouldn’t really count Covington as a D1 wrestler if he only wrestled in three matches. I guess my point is that Hokit’s NFL career is probably similar to most of the guys that were on both wrestling and football teams and got a taste of the NFL back in the day. Making the NFL is hard
  6. Fix was still suspended by the NCAA during the following season but could come back for the postseason. I do agree that his suspension should have been at least as long as the more harsh gambling suspensions.
  7. Looks like the only time he got pinned last season was by Barnett at NCAA’s. He had a bunch of losses but most were to pretty good guys, and did have wins over Courtney, Ventresca, Peterson, and Heinselman.
  8. Was more referring to the timing and how Kueter might not be available yet
  9. Whoops math was off. If Woods gets 5 and Kueter wins (longshot), they’d win 17-16
  10. I was thinking 4 or 5, but doesn’t change much. Iowa homers might take Kueter over Bastida, but that still puts them down 19-12 at best. They’d need to flip another match (maybe Voinovich the best shot?) AND get more bonus. Definitely an uphill battle for the Hawkeyes, and ISU might’ve been able to win even without the suspensions
  11. Dang…doesn’t sound like he’ll be wrestling this season
  12. I wanna see Duke vs Queens
  13. To be fair doesn’t wrestlestat notoriously under-rate freshmen? Although of course I have no idea how highly touted any of the freshmen are, can’t seem to find any articles on their recruiting class. It does seem like they’d probably be underdogs against Sacred Heart, who are #77. I was kinda surprised Duke was #79.
  14. no shot against Sacred Heart even?

This is true, UNC is kinda a poor man’s Stanford. Maybe comparable athletics but worse academics. But maybe it was harder to get kids into Stanford than he thought so he doesn’t think he can get the team to be as good as Cornell. If it’s easier to get athletes into UNC then he probably thinks he can make them as good as Cornell then it would be pretty impressive to say he did that twice.

He may not leave this season since it starts in a couple months and I assume there aren’t many available jobs. But I think there’s a decent chance he leaves before next season. Just speculation of course
  17. Yup if he gets one then we might as well invite Taylor Lujan, Pat Lugo, Kollin Moore, Luke Pletcher, Cenzo and Mark Hall back for another year too.

That he leaves UNC? Can we make it by the start of the 2024-2025 season?

Which part? I'd say 50/50 odds Ramos leaves UNC. But yes I doubt the Brands bros actually get canned

Have to assume Ramos may be gone if this happens? Maybe to Iowa after the Brands Bros get fired for the gambling scandal :-)?
  21. Interestingly, looking at wrestlestat for 125 starters, only 71 ELO points separate #4 and #32 (they do have Howard as the #25 starter and McHenry would be #28 if he was listed instead of Howard). For comparison, at 133, it's exactly double that at 142 ELO points separating #4 and #32. Although for 125, not sure how they have Eli Griffin at #13, who didn't even wrestle in the conference tournament last year. He had a couple decent wins, beating Volk (major), Mauger (pin, but was also pinned by him in a different match), and Terukina, but nothing spectacular. Meanwhile you have guys like former AA Brandon Kaylor down at #18 among starters. Yes I know they're just "ratings not rankings," but sure seems like they put too much emphasis on bonus points and not enough on postseason performance.
  22. Yup, McHenry's losses are probably what sets them apart based on results so far. McHenry has a couple bad ones, Howard doesn't have any (although of course he's only wrestled 13 total).
  23. Agree on Howard. But the results I listed for McHenry were just last season. He was 5-0 in 2022 but only wrestled backups or D2 guys. He was 0-2 in 2021 losing to Heinselman and Jacob Moran but I assume he was probably at his smallest then, so wouldn't put much stock into those losses (and of course Heinselman in particular isn't a bad loss).

Stanford probably pissed after the OU situation, but it is his alma mater…
