  1. Looks like Michigan might be the next “Cornell Ag school.” Between their 5 transfers (the 4 starters + Cannon), it looks like 3 are in Social Work and 2 were doing a “Real Estate Development Cert,” which I believe is what Suriano did as well.
  2. Apologies, for some reason had it backwards and was thinking Truax was seeded 5th and took 6th. Point still stands though, for analysis like this Starocci should be considered a 1. So that makes Davis the only underperformer, although a 1 seed DNP’ing is a bigger difference than 7 to 3 and 6 to 5. But to be fair 1-20 at 125 probably all could have been considered the same seed.
  3. Transfers (not counting transferring from schools that cut their programs) that AA’d and achieved their highest finish this season. Of course not all of these “chased the money”: Anthony Noto Caleb Smith Austin Gomez Quinn Kinner Mitchell Mesenbrink Izzak Olejnik Michael Caliendo Edmond Ruth Trey Munoz Lucas Davison Yaraslau Slavikouski (Apologies if I missed any, also didn’t count guys that finished equal to a prior placement)
  4. Yeah so like I said if you count Starocci as a 1 seed, they actually underperformed vs seed. Kasak was the only other guy to outperform his seed, but both Davis and Truax underperformed vs seed. The rest performed up to their seed.
  5. That’s the guy from Davis/Kilkeary too…
  6. Who doesn’t count? I can see the argument for Kerk, but Truax, Nagao and Mesenbrink were all via the portal.
  7. I can’t even think of any with more than two, and the only one with two that I can think of is Indiana (Lee and Fongaro)
  8. Did he lose to any backups or guys with a career record worse than 9-19?
  9. Well Renteria was undefeated this year! Will be interesting to see how he does next year
  10. Who were his losses to?
  11. Nothing against Maximo Renteria, he’s a D1 wrestler which is more than the overwhelming majority of wrestlers can say. But he has a career record against D1 opponents of 9-19. Has anyone had a worse in season loss during the year they won a national title (not counting injury defaults)? Just goes to show that anything can happen during the season and you can still win a national title. Oh and 125 gonna 125
  12. Seems to be working OK for Penn State
  13. Yeah I think only third school technically. He was initially committed to NC State, but don’t think he ever actually enrolled, although he only announced he was going to Rutgers a few weeks before classes
  14. And Italy for freestyle?
  15. Well after Burwikk we know Wisconsin guys won’t be missing that portal deadline anymore
  16. Seriously, this can’t be a good sign for Bono
  17. Could be wrong, but wasn’t Bailey in particular pretty high on the P4P list? I imagine he had offers from bigger schools to begin with, I’m sure there’s a reason he chose Little Rock
  18. Yeah I feel like Facundo would’ve already hit the portal if he was going to leave
  19. Similar thing happened to MJ Gaitan against Patrick Kennedy in the Cy-Hawk dual. The ISU coaches thought Gaitan was the one with riding time even though he was getting majored until there were like 2 minutes left in the match
  20. Or the same donor to make another donation…
  21. Obviously a Cornell guy based on the OP, so looks like Shapiro
  22. A bit dated, but here ya go https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/5068724-tax-forms-reveal-stunning-finances-at-nittany-lion-wrestling-club
  23. Yes he is. I believe @Wrestleknownothing has shown the chart with average finish or something in the last 10-15 years and Iowa was well ahead of the third place team, which I think was Cornell IIRC.
  24. I get what you’re saying, but he makes good money “selling juice and coaching club.” Iowa would need to make it worth his while, it’s not like he’s just going to be willing to uproot his entire life just because he wants a challenge. I don’t see them offering what it would take to get him, or even moreso, firing the second most successful active coach to bring in a guy with no college coaching experience.
  25. He was talking about graduate programs. I’m sure a lot of these guys had no intention initially of going to graduate school at the same place they did undergrad if at all. But the free Covid year gave them the opportunity for an additional year of eligibility and to potentially get paid to wrestle while using it. People like to complain about the free Covid year, but encouraging guys to use it while getting a graduate degree is certainly one good thing about it.
