  1. I thought the ORS “stopped the clock.” But yeah, I doubt Vito takes one this season.
  2. Normally Vak is pretty unbiased…but the black and gold glasses definitely showing a bit here
  3. Did Deakin’s Twitter bio used to say he was a coach at Stanford? It does not currently…I’m guessing he’s going to UNC
  4. Not sure if this is code for something?
  5. The girlfriend may not get in trouble, but the player could/would. Here’s a 6 minute video that Nelson should have watched in light of missing the meeting. At 2:45, it talks about players sharing “non-public information.” Not saying Nelson got any “non-public information,” but it seems logical to try to prevent that in general, especially if the question is why “should” it be a rule. The NFL for example has similar rules regarding non-public information - https://www.profootballnetwork.com/nfl-gambling-policy/
  6. At the very least, most people seem to agree that betting on other teams at your university is a no-no due to the likelihood of getting insider information.
  7. But the current penalties for texting while driving aren’t a loss of NCAA eligibility…
  8. looks like ASU’s social media person needs to brush up on their history
  9. Parris just got the same medal at a higher weight, you wouldn’t give him a chance against Snyder? The more unrealistic thing would be him cutting ~40 lbs, especially since he’s the favorite for the Olympic Spot at heavyweight unless there is legitimate reason to believe Gable is coming back.
  10. Parris would be the only one with a shot to beat him IMO
  11. Ok so Cassioppi was outed by Iowa’s linebackers coach, and Brands was outed by himself, who’s it gonna be for Assad?
  12. Exactly, that's why I was a bit confused of his emphasis on "PERMANENT," since even if it was only a 1 year suspension, he'd be done.
  13. There was some chatter on HR awhile back that the penalties could involve not ever even being allowed to coach in the NCAA. Could that be what he's alluding to with saying "PERMANENTLY banned"?
  14. Well to play devils advocate what year did gambling become legal in Iowa and have the NCAA rules changed the past few years at all?
  15. I think missing the meeting can be forgiven, but he should still know the rules. I’d agree it should be mostly on him, but the fact that his dad & uncle are the coaches is certainly not a great look for them.
  16. Nelson is also in his 6th year, so he’s what, 24? Not like you can really use the “dumb kid” excuse (for either the gambling or this tweet)
  17. 6 out of 10 isn’t consistent. Didn’t care enough to look up the prior years for the other ones
  18. Well in the most recent season, two of them did not... And the one that did seemingly hasn't for 4 of the past 10 years.
  19. The punishment does bring up an interesting point. Because some would argue if he wasn't suspended for the postseason, then it's hardly a punishment at all. We need a dual championship, so that he could have been suspended for that but not the individual tournament.
  20. Not saying they suck, but I'm guessing wrestling is by far their best sport. A bit dated (2018), but here was an interesting article I found to confirm that suspicion, particularly this line: "Cornell wrestling is perhaps the best individual team in the entire study" https://www.thedp.com/article/2018/08/ivy-league-athletics-ten-year-update-brown-columbia-cornell-dartmouth-harvard-penn-princeton-yale-overall-rankings
  21. So I see Cornell lacrosse made the NCAA finals in 2022, but they didn't even make the 17-team NCAA tournament in 2012, 2016, 2017 & 2019
  22. I'm more surprised that he has a father/uncle as a coach and was stupid enough to tweet that out, geez. Does this count as consenting to have his name released? Will we actually see a statement from Iowa naming him?
  23. Last rankings I see for last season: men's ice hockey: 19th (out of 64 teams) women's ice hockey: 12th (out of 44 teams) men's lacrosse: 10th doesn't look like squash is actually an NCAA-sponsored sport
