  1. I’m surprised Powe hasn’t had more interest (at least it appears). 25-4 as a true freshman last year.
  2. Schools eliminated per Flo: Appalachian State Central Michigan Cleveland State Drexel Kent State Ohio Saint Cloud State
  3. Kerk also seems to have similar knee issues as Spencer Lee, with 1/3 the number of titles in the same number of tournaments. Not to mention “pound his body into submission” is an interesting way to describe a guy that never wrestled more than 20 matches before the postseason…
  4. Listening to the JB interview with Coleman as well as reading a couple articles from when he first went to OSU, it sounds like he may not be a huge fan of NIL. He also may not want to uproot his family again and it seems like his wife being from Oklahoma City may have been part of the reason for the move. However the way he talked about his younger wrestling days I’d be surprised to see him leave the sport completely. Sounds like his son wrestles so I could see him running a kids club or something (and maybe also working another job outside of wrestling).
  5. Except Snyder wouldn’t be leaving a HC job, although he would be leaving a lateral position at a better program in a lower COL area. But maybe he wants to get back to the East coast. Also looks like Manning is about 10 years older than Goodale so I would think he’s actually closer to retirement…
  6. We’re talking about the 2021-2022 season, correct?
  7. Well they did get Rob Koll so I think those guys will be OK, but fair point
  8. Lol. Yes Glazier had a bad tournament, but he did show development. Looking at Flo’s 2021 recruiting class rankings, Figueroa was #1 and Ayala #5, and if I’m not mistaken they are the only 2 on the whole list who have made an NCAA final so far (and there were 2 PSU guys ranked ahead of Ayala).
  9. Any team except PSU would probably love to “implode” to third place after losing a 3x champ to injury.
  10. Well for one I wouldn’t say showing development and being blanked by Penn State are mutually exclusive. And I’d bet they get at least one out of Ayala, Parco and Brands, probably wouldn’t rule out Arnold over Haines either.
  11. No idea. You may be right
  12. Ayala and Glazier showed some pretty good “development” IMO
  13. Saw Willie brought this up a little bit ago. IIRC, he hadn’t heard anything about Teemer but did hear that Iowa made an offer to Ramos. I think the theory is that guys being speculated about that aren’t even in the portal could in theory enter the next round and then wrestle second semester only, which I guess makes sense as to why we’re hearing some of these rumors.
  14. If you’re saying the bigger issue with Ferrari isn’t the battery charge that was dropped, wouldn’t that put him along the same lines maybe not even as bad as Long when he went to PSU? He had been guilty of public intoxication and using a fake ID, but don’t believe he had any allegations related to sexual assault.
  15. I think the comment you’re replying to is more about Ferrari specifically and not getting guys from the portal. Ryan has acknowledged he has tried to get guys from the portal.
  16. How many “wealthy” donors have made sizeable donations specific to wrestling though? Richison, Galli (Rob Koll’s friend), Stephen Friedman (Cornell), Bob Nicolls (Iowa), whoever gave the NLWC $4 million or whatever a few years back, are there many more?
  17. Basically the top 60ish teams in D1 + UW Parkside, Millersville, St Cloud State, UPJ, and West Liberty
  18. Coleman Scott tells @Jason Bryant “we may have seen his last days in the sport” https://www.on3.com/news/coleman-scott-coaching-future-last-days-sport-wrestling-oklahoma-state-hall-of-fame/
  19. According to this, in the last UFC card that Nickal was on, four different fighters earned over $2 million. That’s of course not counting endorsements and if they fight more than once a year. https://www.sportbible.com/mma/ufc/ufc-300-alex-pereira-jamahal-hill-max-holloway-510606-20240415 Apparently the average NBA salary is about $10 million.
  20. It is the proper forum. The question is about his impact on college wrestling
  21. I think it’s also what @RandolphTJones was saying. Could definitely see him resurrecting his old quote if he wins a title “you come to Penn State if you want to win titles!”
  22. Money “isn’t an issue” for PSU, but a few years back I believe they had the most by far. Now it seems like OSU and Iowa may have passed them, maybe even tOSU if new coaching hires and rumored NIL amounts are an indication. Yes many guys are obviously still choosing PSU even if they’re not getting the most money there. But if they are able to match some of these competing offers then they’ll be even more unstoppable then they already are. (But yes as stated I know a UFC champ is worth far less than a Fortune 500 CEO).
