  1. 2020-21 - won title as a true frosh for Ok. St; season doesn't count against his eligibility due to covid rules. 2021-22 - injury-shortened season. Unclear whether he gets a medical redshirt. 2022-23 - did not complete. 2023-24 - did not complete. 2024-25 - 3rd at NCAAs for Bakersfield. How does the NCAA treat the 2 season he didn't compete? I thought the rule is your clock starts once you start wrestling and doesn't stop for breaks. Am I wrong about this? Or is the argument that those 2 yrs. off are his redshirt and Olympic redshirt yrs?
  2. When's the last time Ryder's wrestled 174? I'm guessing Thompson beats out Merrill at 197. Guys who are successful at 215/hwt. and come down often don't have the scrambling skills to keep up with the guys who were middleweights in HS or college.
  3. I suspect his walking around weight is the same as the Ok. St. 141 lbers walking around weight. I also disagree that 125 scrambles are different from 141-165 scrambles, but I acknowledge reasonable minds can differ.
  4. Kennedy wrestled 141. I expect he could work with lightweights, up to middleweights. Not as much flexibility with Gilman. Do they have an upper weight guy though? I'd think you want a young assistant at each end of the weight spectrum.
  5. But what is that in stones? Go back to Europe! USA, USA!
  6. Isn't Kennedy there already? Not sure they need two little guy coaches anyways.
  7. Give everyone a 1 lb. allowance to avoid forfeits and weight-cutting. There - I solved it!
  8. I don't think that's the correct use of "simp". I'll have to ask my teenage daughter to confirm.
  9. Illinois makes the most sense. Ok. St. people say he's walking around at 215, so would slot in well at 197. I hope he's not expecting NIL money though - I don't think IL is a player in that market. He's also an Izzy guy though and there seems to be an Izzy-to-Michigan pipeline.
  10. Did the little brother from LIU join AJ in going to UNC? Where does he fit in the lineup?
  11. Can't post stuff about his wife unless you include a picture. Sorry, but those are the forum rules.
  12. Neves is an NCAA qualifier as a frosh, so UNC is not bad at Hwt. Ferrari may fit in better at 197. But if he waits until next season to decide, that may screw Neves out of his chance to hit the portal.
  13. Heard from inside sources at Stanford that the team there didn't love Koll. He spent all his time fundraising and glad-handing instead of coaching. Maybe that was necessary though, given the dire straits the program was in after almost getting cancelled.
  14. Judge is now questioning whether the roster caps should be phased in and current athletes on rosters can be grandfathered/exempt from the cap.
  15. Didn't even win ACC wrestler of the year. How good could he be?
  16. I thought you had to opt in to be eligible for the NCAA tourney. I must be incorrect since obviously the Ivies wouldn't opt out if it meant that.
  17. One of the best twitter accounts for youth wrestling technique. Giving back to the sport.
  18. Tommy Bartlett's also backing up the Brinks truck. Mars Cheese Palace. Wilderness Resort. We've awakened a giant.
  19. Elite athletes will use whatever they can for extra motivation - so yes. Watch any interview about Michael Jordan.
  20. Gave Ryder extra motivation to win a title and any H2H match-ups. That may not have been included in their calculus.
  21. You missed April Fools Day by 48 hrs.
  22. Right? What's next, Brown? LOL.
  23. I could be wrong, but was of the understanding that Connor Mirasola was a light 197 who could make 184. With Cole being his twin, that'd make him a very, very light heavy.
  24. Well, Cael did do it and he's a top coach so you're right to that extent. Some coaches may be reluctant based on long term consequences of this practice. It'll be an interesting to see if this impacts PSUs current team and future recruiting. I know Cael's done this before (e.g. Max Dean) but this move is higher profile and getting more publicity.
