  1. I tend to agree with this. Dude was a hammer and always looking to score and pin.
  2. 2x Champ. I don’t think he surrendered a takedown in his senior season either.
  3. Got it. Move Rosholt to 197 and plug in Chris Barnes at 184.
  4. Didn’t Rosholt win a title at 197 also? Could you slot him into 197 and then have a different 184?
  5. Well then this is a silly conversation to begin with. Just pick all the recent guys to win and move on.
  6. I’m not convinced that Lewis isn’t first team. He’s an Olympic champion and would likely be 3x ncaa champion if not for an elbow dislocation.
  7. Not necessarily. The hypothetical is that Gable was innovative for his time and pumped out world class wrestlers with his style/training. He was the tip of the spear. In the same way, Cael has evolved and changed game to pump out world class wrestlers. His style is much different than Gable but the common theme between the two is the innovation that they displayed to separate themselves from the field. High achievers like Gable and Cael are adaptable and will find a way to win regardless of their circumstances. If you think Dan Gable would try to win today on toughness and grit alone, you are selling him very very short.
  8. The only way to judge these type of cross generation debates is to compare results against their contemporaries. While a middling wrestler nowadays might destroy a champion wrestler of yesteryear, you have to take a nuanced look and think that the champion wrestler of the pst would evolve if placed in the present day.
  9. Didn’t Campbell go a long time without suffering a takedown?
  10. Gonna have to disagree with this pretty strongly. Dake is one of the P4P best wrestlers in the world right now and Starocci has already lost to Chance once.
  11. Wait, I thought you said Ragusin was not a big 133?
  12. Wait, I thought you said Ragusin was not a big 133?
  13. Wow, that young man has been through a lot in the last couple of weeks. We will be praying for improved condition and recovery.
  14. Depends on when a kid burns out in my opinion. If you are taking about high school/college aged kids then sure. But when you are taking about very young kids training year round and cutting weight then burn out is real and easily avoidable through moderation. Watch the Keegan O’Toole documentary on Flo
  15. Randy Lewis vs John Smith in Topeka and then at the trials were awesome matches. Two guys at or near their peak going at it. Whoever won trials was going to be an Olympic champion.

I have no idea is the guys like Perry but he definitely is intense when he is coaching matches. He looks like a maniac out there haha.

Why is the program beyond rehabilitation? Oklahoma is still a solid wrestling state so you have in state guys to pull from. Texas, Missouri & Colorado high school wrestling keep improving. OK State is one of the few programs that gets a fairly mild winter. The legacy of excellence within the program is well established. GIA is one of the better attended arenas in college wrestling. The program is still pulling in top tier recruits.
  18. The combination of strength and hips from Randy Lewis must have been insane. He did stuff that should not work in JV matches against Olympians.
  19. Right now the 3rd place finisher can outscore the champion in a tournament format. I believe the proposed rule change would take this out of the equation. For instance, Hendrickson outscored a couple of champions this year due to his pins.
  20. Watched McCade coach at the Big 12 tourney this year. That guy makes Mark Manning look tame.
  21. 141 - Randy Lewis vs Jim Gibbons (Dual Meet
  22. I don’t know about that. He looked like a full sized 133 this year. He bulked up.
  23. Wouldn't make much sense with Raugusin there though...
  24. Guys should watch David Carr & KOT if they want to learn how to win & lose with class and humility.
  25. We all know that Askren jumped levels his last two years and was great. His dismantling of Jake Herbert was a work of art. Both Askren and Ruth were better folkstyle wrestlers than freestyle. Ruth did not only lose to DT in freestyle, he lost to Clayton Foster, Keith Gavin, Jake Herbert..
