Cody Merrill is going to be very, very good. Yes, Mirasola beat the younger Merrill (Colby, I believe) in the quarters. The younger Merrill was up 4-0 and Mirasola came back to win 8-4. The older Merrill (Cody) steamrolled his way through the tournament pretty much unchallenged.

Age level world medals don't automatically make you an elite college wrestler, but they are very indicative or future success. When you have a bunch of world age level medals in the same weight class it shows the depth and strength of that weight class.

Parity with wrestlers (Elam, Sloan, Cardenas, Amos) that have had proven success in age level world events does indicate a strong weight class though. Dean had close matches two seasons ago, just found ways to win them. He dropped a couple close matches during the season last year and then Allred was his Achilles heel.

Get guys in the room and the cream rises to the top. None are surefire AA's. Mauger is still wrestling 113 so remains to be seen if he will grow into 125. Seltzer has promise for sure but his best win during redshirt was Jace Koelzer.
