  1. So your daughter didn't turn into a "Ronda Rousey" type?
  2. Whose on 2nd?
  3. Yeah I bet not
  4. You took your newer/young NAIA team to the MSU Open?
  5. Sounds like the exact blueprint from Mike Moyer. Was the school told that in year 2 or 3 there would be 40-50 kids per team?
  6. In a lot of the places the AD didn't want a women's program. For them it is more work and no extra money. There definitely is no clerical help. I have seen some with paid assistants. There are so many that don't want to or refuse to spend a few seasons as an Assistant Coach, and that is where most of this training would occur.
  7. I was surprised that Byrd didn't pin LaMont. Do you think Bono is second guessing bringing in LaMont?
  8. Yeah it is bad. These schools are told that in year 2 or 3 there will be 50 kids on the roster and only pay coach about $40K
  9. You will have to use Trackwrestling if you want to see anything on women's college wrestling. That is usually just results, but there is the occasional story. Our best Buckeye friend @MPhillipswas correct when he said "NCAA emerging sport." That is code for we are not going to be covering this until it is an official sport. Currently the women's college wrestling market is flooded. There are too many teams that have less than 20 wrestlers and yes they have 10 weight classes too. If we see more big schools like Iowa add a women's program, it might be the death of women's D3 wrestling.
  10. So coaches aren't teaching kids how to get out of that ankle ride? Instead of teaching kids how to counter that ankle ride we should just change the rules or put the responsibility on the official to call stalling? I am not a buyer.
  11. Too bad the Ferrari's can't open an Italian restaurant there.

  13. Honest question here....Askren liked McDonough? Or is there more to this story that I am missing?
  14. I didn't say that I believed it.
  15. According to the "experts" the other Smith is on the hot seat, so maybe he needed to get all of his starters on the mat.
  16. What about some of the other things to consider about the Okie State job? It is in Stillwater and that is no where near as nice as Corvallis, Oregon. Sure Okie State has the resources, fan support, and etc....but remember that there are guys out there like Kolat that didn't want a big school and wanted a small quiet community, and yes he said that years before moving to the Naval Academy.
  17. Seems like "there is a rumor that John is done at the end of this season" is brought up every season. It is getting old. It is odd how we don't hear about every other OSU alumni as a candidate. We hear about the same 2 or 3 names. What about Nick & Tony Purler? Both went to Okie State and Tony was on staff for a few years too. I am not saying that Nick or Tony would even want the job. I am saying that it would be really hard to take over after John Smith. The fans have become accustomed to winning and bringing in some tough kids from all over. I am not sure that Pat Popolizio leaves what he has to go work under the microscope of Okie State. I am not sure if a lot of people would be willing to take the job right after John. We know that Pat Smith is not going to be considered. They already ran him out of Stillwater once, they aren't going down that path again. Same goes for Eric Guerrero. So yeah I would say Esp probably has the inside lane on it, if he wants it.
  18. Boy are you correct! I am not a big poster and have never been banned, but this really IS a great new home.
  19. Does that mean that they are going to be pushing a new samich? The Philly Cheese Tofu?!
  20. UCLA will add wrestling when the University of Texas adds it. NEVER.
  21. Texas has had a separate division for girls for over 20 years and even now we still don't have more than 10 girls go to wrestle in college each year. We have over 5,000 girls wrestle at the HS level. That is more than Oklahoma has boys that wrestle at the HS level!
  22. They can't get full rosters now. It is so bad that coaches are taking girls that haven't wrestled Freestyle! I bet there are about 60 women's programs without 20 girls on the roster. There were about 3 or 4 programs dropped last year, because they couldn't fill the rosters. I guess the girls don't want to spend $50K a year to go to a private NAIA or D3 school just to wrestle.
  23. The market is flooded for women's college wrestling. If a few more D1 teams add a women's program and that may be the death of D3 women's wrestling. About half of the women's teams now have less than 20 athletes, but schools keep adding it.
  24. Yes. It was proposed for a men's program and UT asked if there could be more raised for a women's program? Of course the answer was "YES!" Then UT came back and said nah, not interested. In Texas it is King Football and Prince Basketball and until we can change that thought process, we will not have a big D1 program in Texas.
  25. I am glad that the administration at OU allowed Lou some time to get the program back on track. Do you think Demas is second guessing his transfer out now?
