Given Smith's history of holding guys out, this is definitely not a done deal.

Hell, half the calls in a match are judgement calls (not really but you get the point). Refs are always using discretion and their best judgement throughout a match. If this ref can't tell that the headgear toss was in no way done in an unsportsmanlike manner, then he's failing in this aspect. He followed the letter of the law, not the intent. And being a past state champ could have played a role here. He was used to being the focal point when he was on the mat. Now maybe he feels the same way as a ref.

Had a trainer tell me that a mix of 1/2 water and 1/2 Gatorade is excellent for after weigh-ins. Only half the cost of Gatorade too.

Hope they don't drug test there. I got a contact high just walking down the strip.

Mizzou has started slow with multiple starters out, but their lineup has 8 returning qualifiers with 6 legit scorers in Surtin, Edmonds, Steed, O'Toole, Hawks, and Elam. That's 35 points returning. Surtain did have a bad tournament last year going 0-2, but was ranked as high as #3 late in the season. And I could see O'Toole and Elam both improving on their placement from last year. Don't see them getting a trophy, but would be surprised if they're not top 10.

She played 4 full seasons at UConn, in at least 33 games each season. She's out of eligibility.

Don't think I'd categorize the Braunagel/O'Toole in '22 as a "very close match" before the fall. Even if Braunagel fought off the pin it would have been 10-2. That being said, I don't like the way Mizzou matches up vs Ill, particularly if Surtain and Elam are out. Flip a coin for this dual.

Don't know if I'd say AJ transferred out. Kicked out is more accurate.

Zeus is the AJ of Team GG?

Almost half of all BYU athletes go on missions that last 18-24 months.

CS is coming back for 2 reasons: the money, and a chance at being the first ever 5 time champ. A loss here could make him think.

Weird video (in reference to Starocci and separately, youth wrestlers)

Didn't read it, saw it. And do you really joke like that with younger kids? And why the hell would a club post that to social media? If he's joking then so be it, but he needs to catch a clue either way, and so do you. -

Umm, don't think so. Not when he's talking to a bunch of kids who don't get it. And if he is, then he's a bigger idiot than I originally thought. -

Guy's an idiot. He uses the only (possible) 5x NCAA champ ever as a reason why kids should get held back. Guessing this douche doesn't have kids. -
Day number # of CSUB not kicking out Aj Ferrari

The NCAA has "rules" for medical redshitting (sic), but they're a joke. That's why some athletes and schools have to sit and wait to hear back from the NCAA as to whether they'll approve a medical redshirt or not. If it benefits the NCAA, if it is a blueblood program, or if it will cause more headaches than it's worth, then you could expect an MRS approval. -
Iowa is getting undue hate for all the transfers

Well, if you aren't capable of developing your own studs, then might as well buy them from other teams. The Brands are smart to realize this. -
David Taylor kicks started Jordan Williams off the team!

Where you came up with this number I have no idea. -
Just because you had a miserable time doesn't mean everybody else will. Weight cutting wasn't fun, but otherwise I enjoyed my college experience, and I wasn't that great. If everyone thought like you then college wrestling would be history.
-
This. They can't develop their own wrestlers because the old school Brands brawler crap doesn't work anymore, and they're incapable of evolving. The sport has change and they can't keep up. Even their store bought team can't excel under their leadership.

Todrank (who at best was below average for DI) knew he was going to get blasted, but he was wrestling up from 149, lasted longer than expected, and scored legitimate points against Nolf. It was stupid to taunt him, but he still had a better night than he expected. He fights MMA now. He said this about that match during an interview: “My whole wrestling career, I was a s***head,” Todrank laughed. “I talked s*** during matches, I did little antics here and there; I did this my whole career. It was [Nolf’s] senior night, so I had come to the decision that I wasn’t going to do my antics or talk mess. At a point, he shoved me and I kind of shoved him back, then the way I wrestle, I try to circle and create angles. He got frustrated trying to chase me down, so he double foot jumped at me and I heard a whole section of the audience laugh at me. When I heard them laugh at me I was like, ‘All right, f*** it, I’m turning it on now.’”
