  1. Agreed, and I call them out as lazy or dumb takes. I do think there is room for an honest discussion around possible overuse/overtraining injuries at Iowa, though. I say possible because I do not know, but last year seemed like a case of overuse injuries accumulating. Where Spencer Lee has made it clear that the decision to wrestle or not is his, you cannot put that on the coaches that in hindsight he made a poor decision to not get his knees repaired prior to last year. But with Eierman, Kemerer, and Cassioppi I think it is a fair question to ask if these injuries were due to overtraining.
  2. It is on my bucket list to never run a marathon...in aggregate. So far, so good.
  3. I work for a company whose general partner always says, "we want to be rich, not famous."
  4. I linked from the start of the conversation (1:11:00). After Ben Askren says, "I hate the fact that you don't count them as loses", Christian Pyles responds, "Yep, um, that is, uh, an example where, you know, it's not great, but can't count injury default wins...yeah, I mean, if the NCAA changes their stance on it, then, uh, maybe we would too, but." Askren says loses clearly and Pyles mumbles the word wins as JD Rader begins to talk over him, so I guess I focused on Askren's claim and missed Pyles' qualifier. Later (1:14:36) Pyles says that Lewan will not fall in the rankings because of the Scott injury default match, but will fall because he lost to Kendall Coleman, and so seems to contradict his earlier statement. In short it is a mess.
  5. Agreed, and I was on record over there saying 99% of what is considered a duck by people in these forums is just dumb. The one certified duck is when Schultz was standing matside with headgear on at last year's collegiate duals. And it wasn't even Schultz doing the ducking. That was on Zeke Jones. In a sport where injury is a near guarantee, we are lazy calling a duck rather than recognzing that fact. Of course, the Brooks situation was not reported as an injury, but as sportsmanship. The coaches arranged for a fair match. So be it.
  6. Dumb stuff.
  7. Crap, now I have to go back through FRLs to find it. I think it was 868 or 870. But stay tuned.
  8. Their stated reason for not including injury defaults is that the NCAA does not include injury defaults. They have also stated that when the NCAA includes injury defaults, so will they. So why include other matches that the NCAA does not include? It has nothing to do with ease of interpretation.
  9. The point is that Flo vehemently denies that rankings are opinions and then they make choices that contradict that position.
  10. Let's talk about the ongoing silliness that is the Flo rankings policy. They will not include an injury default, including those that occur after the match starts, because "the match didn't happen according to the NCAA, if the NCAA includes them we will" (that was a Christian Pyles paraphrase from a recent FRL). But another match that did not happen according to the NCAA, the All-Star Challenge, they do include. Anyone care to offer a theory why they would do that? Anyone care to offer a theory on how that theory interacts with their prior statements about the objectiveness of their approach?
  11. Penn State had a good week and their expected lead has grown along with their expected number of All-Americans per Intermat Flo has the lead pretty much unchanged, but doesn't like Iowa as much (they are also the only service that is including the All-Star Classic in their rankings) I am never really sure what to say about Wrestlestat
  12. And you call yourself a PSU fan? The original plan was for Munoz to wrestle Brooks in the dual and have McKinney wrestle Ball in an extra match. But Munoz was hurt so they agreed to make McKinney/Ball the dual match and sit Brooks.
  13. If I was going you would have a ride, but not going to make it this year.

  15. Safe travels.
  16. Most importantly, if your in college pronouncing the G leads to cool possibilities. You can be G, or an OG, even G Money. Way cooler than being just another feller.
  17. I have no idea what is right, but I have only ever heard it pronounced guh-feller and gee-feller.
  18. Kerkvliet is scary big. They said he weighed in at 251.
  19. I don't know what his walking around weight is, but I feel like that might be a tough pull. Maybe if he transfers to Oklahoma State.
  20. I'm not even sure that would have gotten the job done.
  21. Someone needs to talk to McKinney about the advisability of that 'do.

  23. Yep, it is clear that 149 was a compromise last year. He could not dislodge Nick Lee so that was his next best option.
  24. He had it for a good part of last year. Wrestled the final against Fix with it if I recall correctly.
  25. Starroci appears to have taken umbrage on Olmos grabbing his face. Those last few seconds of forearm to the back of the head and then hand to the back of the head seemed to be a little payback.
