  1. Spoiler/Apology: Given that I only became interested in college wrestling in 2018 my list is very PSU heavy. In no particular order, though I saved Number 1 for the end: Nick Lee (saw live) Jason Nolf (live) Zain Retherford (live) Bo Nickal (live) Cael Sanderson (via clips) Dan Gable (via clips) Spencer Lee (live) Dan Hodge (via conversations with Mike Chapman) Vito Arujau (live) Tom Brands (via clips) Kyle Snyder (live) Mike Macchiavello (live in an elevator, actually two elevators) Mark Hall (live) Vincenzo Joseph (live) Numero Uno - Kyle Todrank He danced on Jason Nolf and lived (barely) to talk about it
  2. If you change the question to "how many non-injured starters were missing?" I think the answer is one. For Cornell: Not 100% sure about Diakomihalis, but he hasn't wrestled since November It looks like Ferrara is the new starter after Ungar got the early look Dellagatta is took two forfeits without wrestling at the Bobby Kaufman Open the day before the dual, so not sure what is happening there. The only presumptive starter that did not go was Fernandez. For Missouri: Looks like Seltzer is the new starter after Gioffre got the early look. Seltzer has wrestled the last 4 duals while Gioffre was sent to the Soldier Salute. Steed was injured at the Journeymen O'Toole is out for the month due to injury as announced by Smith.
  3. OK, you bunch of Debbie Downers, this Friday the schedule really begins. Conference duals get under way in earnest.
  4. Hilariously, after this result UNI moves down 2 spots in the wrestlestat dual rankings to #7 and Nebraska remains at #4. https://www.wrestlestat.com/d1/rankings/dual
  5. And somewhere @jajensen09 wept
  6. Shouldn't it be diVestiture?
  7. No doubt the in season tournaments are a pale imitation of what they used to be.
  8. Your apathy has caused you to not pay attention. There have been a ton of top 10 match ups. O'Toole v Haines Ramos v Spratley Ayala v Knox Hardy v Jamison Lovett v Henson Downey v Taylor Keckeisen v Plott Buchanan v Munoz Hendricksen v Feldman
  9. I love all the people.
  10. He had another lengthy one today. The basic point is he was reaffirmed that his son made the right choice.
  11. "You gotta win to get love. That's just life. Look at Don Shula, legendary coach. Look at that Asian guy, holds the world record for eating all those hot dogs in a row. Look at Rue McClanahan, from the Golden Girls. All three people great champions. All loved." - Our generation's greatest sports philosopher This quote moved me so much that I decided to see who the greatest winners of our time were. Using the results of the first, third, fifth, and seventh place matches for the last 10 tournaments we can figure out which team ends their season with a win most often. Surely that must be Penn State. Maybe Cornell. How about Michigan? Turns out The Ohio University, Air Force, Michigan State, Brown, and Clarion are the Rue McClanahans of college wrestling. They are greater winners than the lowly lions, the big blah bears, or the woeful wolverines. And so we must love them. These five titans of college wrestling are the only teams to win ALL of their season ending matches. Indisputably this makes them the greatest winners of all time of the last decade. Below are all the teams to win at least half of their final matches.
  12. As a big Penn State wrestling fan you know I have to take Notre Dame. Oh yeah, another fun fact about me. I grew up in the Chicagoland area with red hair and freckles.
  13. This was covered in Horrible Bosses
  14. That only applies to first semester. Second semester the option to wrestle unattached exists.
  15. Because $5 million for a wrestler is foolish.
  16. He would be a fool not to, and they would be fools to offer it.
  17. Did I say humble? My bad. I meant bumptious.
  18. Perhaps there is some 3D chess grand strategy reason that we are all missing, but lest we forget administrative details have not seemed to be the program's strong point of late (see Teske, Brody and Teske, Brody).
  19. I met a two-time NCAA champ who said six-packs were over-rated. He won both titles without one. So my humble brag is that I have always been just like a two-time NCAA champ.
  20. Wrestlestat has him at #13 (really #12 as Elam is #4).
  21. It seems weird that Shapiro is one of the only ones to got to just the tenth digit AND to match last year's total. Though there are some others like Levi Haines with 6 last year and 6 projected. Then they have Julian Ramirez scoring 3.94 bonus after scoring 0 last year. So not everything is a carry over from the prior year. As a matter of fact, they have the other two 7.5 bonus point scorers from last year scoring 2.95 and 3.38 this year. I see no way to reverse engineer their algo.
