As much as I hate to say it Kilkeary could be the starter at 125 next year…it’d be silly of him to leave unless he really doesn’t think he can win the spot. Most don’t believe Mills can hold 125 already…

Shumate shouldn’t leave either if he or Rogotzke can make it to 184 and beat out Fishback. Fishback is beatable but if neither can make it down I get it…Rogotzke is the guy at 197, especially with Geog gone now

Shumate just took 3rd at the US Open at 92 KG (~202lbs), beating Merrill in the process.

Agreed. Dearth of options in the portal at the weight, unfortunately. Frustrating would be an understatement from my reactions to his matches this season.

I’m sure Bormet and co will just bump Brock to 197 and allow him to cook 20 pounds under weight while they bump Beau and run Haakon Peterson out at 174, Cat at 165, with Wolbert, Lemley, Sement, Mendoza, and Bortero, utilizing the logjam at middle weights to fill voids beneath Brock….This was a joke until I actually started typing it out, and now I’m sad it may be true.

I would include DZ or Gilcher in these but they are both coming off of injuries and the timeline for return is murky. Also, Haakon Peterson is too small for 174.

I don’t see this happening at all

I’m not quite sure what you mean…I was/am extremely proud of Shumate I just don’t think he can take the 197 spot from Rogotzke. Well maybe now since the injury but Rogotzke has something Shumate just doesn’t. That Greco background gives him the advantage in the room.

UCO getting 2 former Sooners. Hollingsworth and Sommers. Rumors they are talking to Giddens too, but I hear NSU making a hard run at him.

He just placed third in a weight class that included at least eight AA and at least fifteen NQ, albeit in MFS.

I know styles make matches and that Freestyle =/= Folkstyle, but to say he can't 'take the spot' when it wasn't even Rogotzke's to lose is silly.

I'd bet money, maybe not the farm, that you won't see RR or AF enter.

I'll double down on that.  Triple stampsies even.

I don’t see my response but I’ll summarize.

It’s not silly if you’ve watched Rogotzke and Shumate wrestle folkstyle. I’ll post just Shumates dual record this year (that just ended) and you think Rogotzke wouldn’t be the favorite? Shumate squeaks by if not loses every single match he’s in…Rogotzke is a threat to put literally anyone on their back every match and definitely wasn’t losing to unranked guys at the clip Shumate did.

forget the money - it was only the farm I was interested in.

what about Jamison?

Be careful what you wish for... can you handle moving from the luxury, sunny life to the farm? We could make a reality series if we can get AJ Ferrari on board.

Straight up tampering or he reached out (if he did enter with a no contact) but I can’t hate on it. Great pickup for Missouri and great opportunity for Geog!

I personally think Conway is going 165 and Gleason or Rath will be the 157. Heiser wrestled 79KG at the Open and wrestled 174 most of the year last year. I could see him being a 174. So it would be Bambinelli and Conway battling it out for 165.
125- Mauger
133- Walker (Maybe Moore??? Give Walker that redshirt he has been trying to take for two years)
141- Fugitt
149- Mendoza
157- Gleason/Rath
165- Conway/ Bambinelli
174- Steed
184- Sinclair
197- Geog
285- Stoner/Stillwell
Mizzou with the addition of Geog still has one more roster spot open (Since Seltzer & Roller went in the portal). So I wonder if they bring something in. Cause Brady Collins was going to do a training year and then come in as a freshman in 2027-2028. But that may change with the 5 years after you graduate/turn 19.

I really hope we never see Kade Moore again. Maybe Boogie if Walker absolutely has to take a RS (I'd like for him to, but not at the cost of seeing Moore in the lineup). Can Hilton make 133?

I really hope Heiser can get in the lineup...

@The_KC_Godfather I think the Kade Moore era is over. But he is still on the roster and has a year eligibility left and not in the portal. So my guess, he might be the 133 lbs.

🤢 if that’s the case. By far the weakest link in the lineup if Kade is starting. At this point, let Gage go this year and with Boogie and the additional recruits coming in, let Gage RS next year.

The last time they went to NCAAs, which was the 2024-25 season, Shumate made it to R12 at 197lbs whereas Rogotzke went 0-BBQ at 184lbs.  The weight being considered for both is 197lbs.  Weight classes exist for a reason.

I am not claiming, or even predicting, that Shumate wins the spot.  I said that it is silly to say that he can't.

Furthermore, Shumate absolutely believes the spot is his, or he would transfer out as well.  His performance at 92 KG at the Open (and Rogotzke's withdrawal from even competing there - he was entered at 92 KG as well), show that Shumate is in a better spot to perform right now.  He just be as the runner-up at 197lbs six weeks after NCAAs.

If (when) the 5 for 5 go in to effect, there are stipulations when wrestlers enter the portal under DNC.  Not sure the specifics, but both sides (wrestler and new school) will need to prove there was no tampering.

Ryder slid towards the end because of injury…

Also, rumor is Ryder is walking around at a very healthy 197 if not 200+. He has done well adding on the mass and expectations (possibly more than his own…not saying he’s been told but maybe) that he will be 197 or is expected to be.

Im not taking anything away from Shumate and I don’t want to say more (especially on the board) than I need to but you’re also highlighting his consistency issues. Same thing with Kilkeary…go wrestle a stud to the wire then get handedly beaten by an unranked guy. All I’m saying is that won’t be a problem with Ryder…in my opinion.

Above is a response to a DM I have been in…I’ll just move it to the thread. The injury I mentioned derailed the tournament yours speaking of and caused him this past season. The rumors I mentioned are people taking about word out of the Jennings/Cavelli facility. Those people could be 100% Wrong but I’ve seen enough out of both of them to say it’s Ryders to lose/Seths to steal. I don’t want to knee jerk on that because of a freestyle tournament…
