I'm not sure what the Dake detractors are seeing. I think the only real mistake was the challenge. He was doing well in the second period. Still 51 seconds left. And the long rest killed it. Who knows what it will be like next time if Dake can eliminate that lost takedown in the first period. Now he has the feel. Yes he is older. But I came away thinking he can switch the outcome next time.

Ckhitunidze Geo Hamiti 79kg   Chk up 8-2 but Hamiti challenge 4:43 left. Hamiti reversed a trap arm in to a cradle for the fall.  Challenged the non call and won.  Hamiti wins by fall.

Love seeing the impact a good coach can make on a kid for all 6 mins. Hamiti has to feel like he won the lottery.

I think the impact the coaching staff had was actually giving him a sandwich.  Wisconsin Hamiti was the only person who has dominated Mesenbrink for even a short period.  He just didn't have a tank and lost power at 165.  There's a world of difference with him at 174/79Kgs.  I do think Taylor learned from Sanderson that the proper weight is important and that's not always the lowest possible.

We'll see about coaching in the next round as it's 1 year Cowboy rentals Amin and Hamiti squaring off.

Ehhh Taylor was cutting hard under Carl. Hall and RBY are on the record making difficult cuts in college. Taylor only moved up because he had nothing to lose and everything to Treign for.

Parris v Hendrickson

Parris single, Hendrickson sprawls and goes behind for TD 2-0 .  Hendrickson looks 15 pounds heavier.  Parris snap and go behind for Td 2-2  Hendrickson Single Parris spins behind for TD 4-2 Parris. Parris with another go behind 6-2 Parris is winning the scramble/mat battle.  Hendrickson single to double to pushout 6-3.  End of 1

Great action for 125kg.  They shoot as much as 125 pounders.

Start of 2nd

Parris single 30 second scrambles Parris exposures 10-3.   Hendrickson single, Parris go behind. Lift for 4 FTB.  Parris wins 14-3

This was par for the course for these two. Hendrickson looks more like Zahid with a first period gas tank with the extra weight he's finally been able to add. It's a conundrum.

Parris isn't back to his peak (yet?) but this was a good win, mentally and real-world value.

Truth.  That is also just a short list, too.

Taylor has repeatedly said his cut was difficult and I think one year RBY said he was 145ish at nationals.  Whatever he admitted to was a much higher number than I had expected.

You chose two wrong examples. RBY never had a hard cut to 133.  His cut to 57Kg is different.  Hall was famously small for 174 compared to Valencia.

The only big cuts for Penn State in recent years were Brooks to 184 and Facundo to 157 to challenge for a spot and Kasak to 141 to challenge.

Hall cut the hardest of anyone after frosh year. He said it and I do not believe for a moment that Mark Hall is the lying type.

I don't think Carl cares if his guys cut or not. He's just going to put out whoever wins the wrestle off.

What is the over under for the # of prostitutes that Snyder will fuck while in Albania? 4.5? Do we think he is the type to wet his "appetite" before the competition, or does he conserve his zinc until the tournament is done?

He may not be able to perform after that azz whipping he just took.

A good dose of Viagra will help him out.

Kadiev's reign has begun. Glad Zahid got his belt last year because it's going to be a looooong time methinks

Snyder with a poor performance but he has been known to do that. Still, he's 31 this year and I wouldn't be confident in betting he's the rep in 2028.

Nokhodi looks back in form at 79kg and Firouzpour with a relatively easy run to gold at 92kg.

Snyder gassed badly.

Is he regressing in his new room?   Especially without his magic extracurricular “massages”?

If I had a $100 to put on either Dake or Snyder for 2026 world gold, after watching Sad, it's a no brainer for me. Sad is just too much and I could see Dake with a path to the top. I don't see anything opening for Snyder unless Sad has Visa issues again. And even then Snyder is not the betting favorite.

Kadiev and Dazhiev are new guard in 86.  Potentially Rahmani and /or Shamsipour will join them.

Dake hasn't won a world title at an olympic weight class for four years, is 35 years old, and lost to two young guys who will both be at worlds

Snyder is the reigning world champ, 30 years old, and lost one match to a young prospect (who won't even be at worlds) and has dropped random matches at non-worlds tournaments before

Can't say I follow your logic.

I think at Dake’s age, and being at 86 Kg., I just think that this is just a little too much for him. I think Dake has to drop back to 79 kg., if he wants to be in the hunt to make the team and possibly medal. Yes I know that he is looking for an Olympic medal but he’ll be 37 in 2028, so I think he should probably try and go out on top at 79.
I am a huge Snyder fan but I think it’s going to be very difficult for Snyder to win another title. He’s getting up there in age, and although he’s not all that old but his weight class is getting populated by group of young stars. Snyder who was once the young superstar, is now the guy who has been around for more than a decade.
