I’m so looking forward to this match next Sunday in Blacksburg!!

Objectively, I think it’s s toss up match. Forrest appears to have the slight edge on  their feet while Seidel has the edge in top position.

With maroon and orange lens, I think AS might give up a take down or two but squeaks out the W with turns. I don’t think he continues his bonus point streak here because Forrest is too good. I suspect Forrest will pick neutral vs bottom, and I suspect we’ll see more of that for good reason.

Chime in with your predictions. No matter who you want to win here, this is a great individual match for the fans and one we’ll likely see in the quarter or semi finals in March

Forrest is still technically in redshirt.  He's got one date left so that may be used against Ayala/Iowa as that dual should be closer.  Plus we've seen Seidel/Forrest somewhat recently.

I would think if Forrest's status was determined he would have gone last night against Little Rock as he would need the matches to get RPI and a decent seed at NCAAs

Interesting. I didn’t realize he sat out the last match. If a shirt is still in play, how many matches does he have left?

Ronnie still had one free date.

Ramirez and Forrest both have one date left so it's either all in on Forrest going this year or one will see Seidel and one will see Ayala.

Hopefully DT lets Forrest go at the VT match.

I don't know if they know and if they do, they haven't shared that plan.   Figueroa was the 133 plan but they may be on plan c or plan d by now.

I'll be there on Sunday in Blacksburg (bringing a British XC/TF coach to his first ever wrestling match).  I very much want to see Forrest/Seidel but I would begrudgingly accept Sakamoto as a consolation prize

It’ll be a great dual event. Hopefully the corp of cadets are there to bolster the attendance. The cadets seem to love wrestling matches and back in the day there used to be an exhibition match or two among the cadets.

Odds are Ok St takes the dual but there will be some great individual matches that should keep it entertaining. Ventresca vs Spratley will be another good one.

Patriot last chance open is a week after the VT dual. Not calling it a duck yet but it’s starting to quack a little from the outside looking in…

It wouldn't surprise me if Forrest is at Mat Town II which is on the 15th.  It's drivable from his parents home.

That makes sense. Since it sounds like he won’t face either Seidel or Ayala, his highest ranked opponent before nationals will likely be Larkin at the conference tournament. Not a bad strategy but a loss there may backfire to build his rpi

It would be much more fun if Forrest doesn't get to 15 matches but still goes so he gets dropped in as the 33 seed.

He will still get seeded, rpi is only one component but 33 would be the best spot.  If he were to beat Seidel, Ayala and Larkin think he'd go high even without rpi.  Thing is does it really matter?  133 is going to be one of those style match up things not a seed number thing (remember when AT was #1 at 157 his Sr yr)  I'm sure Byrd would love to have all the scramblers on the other side of the bracket more so than getting the 1 seed, let them pick each other apart.  Does 4 vs 5 really matter or even 1 v 4 depending on who they are.  Same with 6 versus 7 or 2, 3.   Its why 33 would be a great spot for any of these top 7 guys, knock off #1 after an easy warm up match.

That's not how it works at all.

The only way he would end up a 33 seed is if he moved to 125 or 141 then took the last qualifier spot in the Big12.   Joe Smith did that one year and is they only reason Alex Marinelli wasn't a champ that year since Marinelli had such a hard bracket.

I still think they are planning on using Jax, and just wrestled Ronnie, as he had 1 more match and it was a back up .  Jax would have teched him in the 1st period.  DT probably believes he can finish in the top 3 this year.

I’d have to be the post. Could have been speculation on someone’s part. To me if he is wanting to build his rpi, he needs a win over a high ranked guy like Seidel or Ayala and the 15 total matches.

This should be example A on how screwed up NCAA seeding criteria is that Jax is going to benefit more from beating backups and redshirts at some open more than beating Seidel, who is currently undefeated #6 in the country and favorite to be the ACC champ.

Sounds like we will have to wait until the NCAA’s now but I hope you are right about  Seidel
