Who can beat Marcus Blaze?

Blaze is on fire to start the season with a 100% bonus rate.  However, I would not call him the favorite to win the title.

I still favor both Lucas Byrd or Ben Davino to outplace him.  Byrd is 26 years old and has 7 years of college wrestling experience.  He also has grandpa strength compared to Blaze.  I think he would beat Blaze in a 2-1 type match.

Davino is just as talented as Blaze and I think has a bit better offense than Blaze.

I would also give Ayala and Larkin a decent shot at taking out Blaze.

What is Blaze’s most notable win in college? Seems a bit early to be suggesting he might be unbeatable. It’s unfortunate that Carl won’t let his guys take on top competition outside of mandatory Big Ten competitions

And maybe 1 or 2 of the guys you mentioned. Good news!! We’ll find out soon because he’ll wrestle 2 of them (Ayala 1/16, Davino 2/13) AND lucky us he’ll likely see some combo of 2 of the 3 (Byrd, Davino, Ayala) at Big Tens!

I love it when message board hypotheticals get to happen if only we can just be patient and wait a few weeks…

I think Marcus dogs in folk.

Ben to me looks much improved from this summer when he was already good but Marcus has won their last 3 meetings in free and while its different I believe Ben has only generated one takedown in those matches and the last time they wrestled I do not think he was able to get a lock on the legs. He seems to be doing a much better job of going to both sides of the body which I think is huge in that matchup but it seems nearly impossible to take Marcus down if the action starts below the legs. Even when Ono did so it was a hard club or underhook to a pick and immediately getting his leg off the mat which I am just not sure Ben can do. As for Byrd I may just be seriously underselling his ability but without adding Jax in I think I would have him third behind the two freshman.

Blaze, is a buzzsaw, and it will be interesting to see if Jax wrestles for Ok St. later this season.

I think it's a 2 man race between Davino and Blaze, and those two will be a dogfight.  

Byrd, Ayala and the rest will be competing for lower spots on the podium.

Vega is at 141, for starters, and is purportedly big for the weight.

Don’t envision him beating Blaze at 133 any time soon.
