How Fraud Swamped Minnesota’s Social Services System on Tim Walz’s Watch

https://www.newsweek.com/tim-walz-minnesota-welfare-fraud-11134602

Tim Walz Minnesota Welfare Fraud Allegations

Minnesota governor Tim Walz has been accused of turning "Minnesota into a failed state" for allowing "health and human services fraud" to "cripple state services."

Writing on X, an account claiming to represent 480 staff at the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) said the governor, who served as former vice president Kamala Harris' running mate in 2024, "has failed Minnesota." In another post, they added: "Tim Walz is 100% responsible for massive fraud in Minnesota."

Last week, the Justice Department announced new charges against the 78th defendant in a scheme called Feeding Our Future. Prosecutors said the scheme involved more than $250 million in stolen funds from a child nutrition program and has led to over 50 convictions. According to a New York Times report, some of these schemes were linked to parts of Minnesota's Somali community.

Not looking good for the ex VP candidate.   And to think they passed over Shapiro because he is Jewish!   What a bunch of schmucks.

I cannot.   I did quote from the Newsweek article.   I used the NYT article to show that this is not some right wing effort.

So no one can say, well, you only show fox or whatever and therefore I won't believe any of it.

Here's more:

So X accounts are being used to justify all this. Not court docs or charging docs or forensic accounting.

What about this part?

He(Walz) added: "I will note, it's not just Somalis. Minnesota is a generous state. Minnesota is a prosperous state, a well-run state. We're AAA-bond rated. But that attracts criminals. Those people are going to jail. We're doing everything we can. But to demonize an entire community on the actions of a few, it's lazy," he said.

Fair. But what are the sources that the New York Times are using? Because Newsweek is citing a Twitter account. Which I hope you can agree is not good or reliable reporting.

Weren’t like 75 Somalis already indicated and convicted already or something like that ?

Its being reported that fraud could exceed over 1 billion dollars in Minnesota Government  programs. This is being by acting US Attorney for the District of Minnesota, Joe Thompson. Just Google Minnesota fraud cases. It lays out the details pretty clearly.

Fidhin did not use these funds to purchase food to feed children.  Instead, she used the money to pay off her home mortgage, to purchase a car, and to fund her lifestyle.  Fidhin also wired tens of thousands of dollars out of the country.  She paid approximately $27,000 in kickbacks to a Feeding Our Future employee in exchange for his sponsorship and submission of her fraudulent claims.

Yeah, there are indictments .  This is the 75th indicted person.   Corruption through NGOs.   Like that isn't a thing.

A fair bit of the $ is funding terrorism isn’t it?

Of the ~80 that have been indicted, seven or eight were not Somali.  The prosecutor said the fraud entails over $1 billion, with evidence that a large amount was sent to Somalia.  Not that it was sent to terrorists, but that the terrorists have a way of taking a portion of any money sent to the country.

More white people do this too. Your point is not a real point. It’s lazy thinking.

So far only 7 non Somalis boss.  Not sure if the ~73 or so somalis are all black.   I think you are racist for assuming so

and literally

Federal authorities have stated that all but a handful of the 86 people charged across several related fraud cases (including meals, housing, and autism therapy fraud) are members of Minnesota's Somali community.

In the primary
"Feeding Our Future" fraud case in Minnesota, which involves bribery charges, 78 people have been indicted, the vast majority of whom are of Somali descent. As of late November 2025, the outcomes are as follows:
  • 50 have pleaded guilty.
  • 7 have been convicted in trials.
  • 13 cases are awaiting trial.
  • 2 were acquitted.
  • 5 are fugitives

He's just parroting Walz saying to include all Somalis in MN under this scheme is lazy.  It's lazy to allow this to happen, that's what's lazy.

Waltz was on tv Sunday saying he takes credit for putting fraudsters in jail.  He had no part in investigating nor prosecuting fraud.  It was all done by the feds.  Now some 400 employees of Dept. of Human Services are accusing him of protecting  fraudsters and intimidating and threatening whistleblowers.

That sounds more like the Walz we've all come to know.   He is as corrupt as they come.  This is progressivism at its best.
