Dual on the line and Ludington puts forth an absolutely abysmal effort. Between that match and Ventresca-Robinson I almost want to get a lobotomy

I see it as a hard job to fill for the below reasons.

1. Gable.  Not that he does not deserve it, but he is ever present throughout the facility and Iowa wrestling. Kind of like Saban and Alabama football, Gable is just not as arrogant as Saban.

2. Brands, will they be a constant in the program also once they leave.

3. Iowa fans only want Iowa wrestling pedigree.  If you didn’t wrestle for Iowa you’re not qualified.

4. Assistant from outside would be targeted , as we should have brought in so and so who knows Iowa.

5.  Will Beth have the b a k bone to stand up to the boosters and support the program.

6. The pressure  of ISU and Northern Iowa picking up in state talent who can make the program deeper.

7. Past NIL failures, there have been some wins here also.

8. Overall recruit culture, Arnold I am leaving I am staying, Henson, Ferrari, Swiderski, the under performing NIL wrestlers.

Iowa would probably be one of the easiest jobs to fill in college wrestling. How many places can a wrestling coach make over $500k a year? I think Brands makes like $700k. And the history of Iowa wrestling is amazing. There would be an abundance of prospects.

I’m not calling for anyone to be fired or forced out or anything. But I’m wondering, which specific coaches would 1) be willing to take over at Iowa, and 2) do a better job than Brands? Coaching a major program like Iowa isn’t exactly easy.

Read back through this thread and there are some lists of coaches that would be able to do the job. Hell, throw 7 figures at Cunningham..... They are already spending that in transfers each year

Why do people think Cunningham is going anywhere? He wouldn't leave for $10 million. None of the PSU/NLWC coaches are breaking up the band.

I mean.  For 10 million.  Common.    He likely makes low ish 6 figures.  Which isn’t a lot really.  He would coach a bowling team in Haiti for 10m

They did not perform up to expectations.

You pay those debts yet ?

They actually did.  If not, they exceeded.

They won all three matches they were favored in.

Peterson, Ayala, Block and Arnold had their (much) higher ranked opponent on the ropes.

Nhs67,  you nailed it.  Iowa won the three matches they were supposed to win.  In how many years with Gable, Zalenski, Brands were they only favored to win only three matches.  That is something new for Iowa as is being ranked #8 in Big Ten Rankings.

I  believe a poster already created a thread about this 11 hours ago. Hmm, who could that be?

“Iowa actually wrestled well tonight”

“Despite the loss Iowa won every match they were favored to win. I liked the effort shown at 125 and 133 especially even though those were losses.

Thoughts, Iowa fans?”

The weather man was right last night.  It was just below freezing with the wind even though that was predicted. Thoughts?
