I went back and looked and saw no valid answer to the why.

We'll just have to agree to disagree then; I shared what I thought were valid reasons and if you don't think they are valid you can have that opinion too

Someone has to join PacX still so we'll see what happens (my money is still Cal Baptist and Utah Valley) and then possibly the Dakotas

A chance to host the Pac-12 tournament and equal voting rights. In the old Pac 10/12 the affiliates did not hold any voting rights or a chance to host the tournament, but now part of the expansion they will have that. I am pretty sure that only member teams in the Big 12 have those rights as well.

What do they vote on that makes a difference?  Appears the B12 has settled on Tulsa for tournament they use the same bracketing, rules etc as B10 and NCAA.  Guess maybe video review rules could be different.

The schools you are talking about are the bottom half of the B12. They have no voting rights for any matter that may come up. They have no say in anything that happens along the way or any changes that may come forth in the future, and we know a lot has changed in the last few years. The difference of being on equal footing with an equal voice and on a rotation of hosting the conference tournament is appealing to some.  The chance to build a conference and be more competitive within that conference is also appealing to some. UVU's out of conference schedule this year is tougher than their in conference schedule. They have Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Stanford, Oregon State, Southern Scuffle and Vegas on the schedule in addition to their conference - Ok State, Missouri and Iowa State.

I would agree it'd be nice to have official conferences for all sports but that's not the world we live in now.  Its a football and basketball world.   Universities dont make money hosting conference tournaments and dont want them.  Hence Tulsa and part of why NCAA went to non U locations.  Now if the vote thing is true and affiliates really want it guess they could use that in bargaining to stay or leave.  Still see nothing gained by leaving except maybe CalB.

Article out today in Oregon....guess the cat's out of the bag.... Yes that's right, Pac12 may be taking everyone...stay tuned.

The Pac-12 will again have only four teams — Oregon State, Cal Poly, Arkansas Little Rock and Cal State Bakersfield -- and the conference has again been approved for automatic qualifier status for the 2026 NCAA Championships. The lineup will change considerably for the following season. Northern Illinois is officially in, and it is likely that North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Northern Colorado, Air Force, Cal Baptist, Utah Valley and Wyoming will join up to form a 12-team league.

“We are going to have a large and very impressive conference,” Pendleton says.

Who else would come? Utah Valley, Wyoming?

I'm surprised Utah Valley didn't come; less surprised Wyoming is staying (Branch is an Okie St guy and Big 12 through and through)

Agree... Utah Valley is the most logical. Branch staying in B12 makes sense as well. It would be great to have an all West Pac12 conference, but it's still a great outcome. I saw that  Tarleton State made an announcement a while back that they would be joining a conference. I thought they may be included here but they weren't. It could still be in the works. Not sure what will come of CBU...their soccer team just joined the Pac12 despite their president saying they wanted conference alignment for their sports teams LOL. NIU was a huge surprise earlier this year...does SIU follow?

I just got back from NCWA national tournament. The rumor there was that Tarleton St has an agreement with the Pac 12, but for it to work the university has to agree to fully fund a men's team (and also possibly a women's team). That program has done great at the NCWAs the past few years and it seems like they have enough school support so far to do this.
