Penn State will wrestle 3 of the top 4 seeds in duals this year. Do you think those duals will be exciting, or do you think Penn State will just crush them?

Crush them.

Of note, the quarterfinal losers having to wrestle at 5:00 PM then 7:00 PM isn't fair.  If you don't think you'll win it all, you should lose your first match on purpose and go for 5th.  That extra two hours of recovery matters.

does this count as each match wrestled is a count towards RS freshman's 5 or just one tournament?

I thought it was weigh-ins is what counted.  If they weigh-in twice, it counts twice?

I think only if they compete.  They can weigh in every match, as far as I know.  I do remember different interpretations of this rule when it first appeared, but would imagine that things have been squared away by now.

- Iowa has the easiest road to the Semis

- Bottom half seems stronger than the top half.  Not sure I can see anything other than Iowa/OSU semis.

- Cornell being the weakest with 1/2 their lineup out and getting drawn in against the host school who is paying for this thing.  Not a full conspiracy but that's convenient.

- Lehigh/Nebraska might be the toughest 1st round.  Lehigh might only need 1 match to go their way and pull off the "upset"

- Yes, there could be some great individual matches in the 1st round, but too many of these never materialize in the past for me to get that excited about it in October.

I have Lehigh as favorites vs Nebby at 125, 133 and 165. Would take quite a bit to pull off the upset, even if Stanich was to compete (talk of him being out and healing up). Should be a fun dual nonetheless.

Didn't know about Stanich until it was mentioned this morning.

I had Lehigh with 125, 133. 149 (no Lamar 1st semester I think) and 165 if Minto goes up to 174.  141 a tossup with Stanich.   With bonus potential at the lower weighs.   I would pick Nebraska but in an early season match, I wouldn't have been shocked if Lehigh won 5 of the 10.

Says the guy who was triggered enough to post on a topic that doesn't involve his team.

Truth hurts...

Not true.

I responded when someone brought up PSU. But I might comment on anything wrestling.

seems like perfect format for Carl; is it possible he could pick different line ups for every match and win with guys only having to wrestle twice the whole tournament; and they keep their march legs?

I'm sure

it did not really register with me just how many incredible matches we get to see because of this event that we otherwise would not see until NCAA's.

r1 alone
Sinclair vs Ferrari
Stanich vs Hardy
Robideau vs Meyer???
Ruiz vs Facundo
Mcneil vs larkin?
Volke vs Ventresca
Millard vs Miller
Seidel vs Cannon?
Mullen vs Hopke
Greg d vs Spratley
Young vs Cornella
Swiderski vs Joy
Mendoza vs Ayala/Bailey

I'm sure I missed some.. god I love wrestling.

That is pretty incredible. That's probably more quality match-ups than we had all first semester last year. This years season will really be starting off with some fireworks. Love it for the college season. Let's actually see these guys wrestle each other.

Who would have thought that you would consider that on a BBS?  The gall!

Number of dates. That said, most schools will use one of their two multi-day dates on the NDI, so it'll count as one date for just about everybody.

Cool.  I am hoping we see Mizzou's Rath give it a go, if we can't see Mayfield and/or Conway in their two+ duals.

Now that the brackets are out, out of the 5 teams that won the draw to be in the tourney - who does the best?  Who makes the most money out of their chance?

Lehigh.

Lehigh has some problems, unfortunately.

All 5 of the lotto ball teams project to lose in R1. Lehigh, ASU, Mizzou, Wyoming, and LRA.

In cosi R1, I think Lehigh beats ASU, Mizzou beats LRA, and Wyoming loses to the VT/Minny loser. So that leaves Lehigh and Mizzou. It's unclear which topside brackets feed into the consi R2 though so I can't easily estimate further.

Assuming the quarterfinal losers go to the opposite side in the consis and things go chalk, Lehigh could have Illinois or NC State in consi R2 and Mizzou could have either VT/Minny or Michigan. So I think Lehigh has the best chance to advance
