It is only weird if, for some reason, you think Gable likes/enjoys wrestling.  He was a really gifted wrestler but I think we have seen enough now to know that he doesn't love the sport.   

The wrestling world just needs to figure out that he is not that into it.

Gable seems to like wrestling just fine. He probably just doesn't like losing, as is the case for most of us.

I would think a guy who likes wrestling just fine would do it more often, especially when he has so many opportunities.    Gable is doing almost everything else possible other than wrestling.
