June 29, 2025 - Ottawa, Ontario - Department of Finance Canada

Canada’s new government is engaged in complex negotiations on a new economic and security partnership with the United States, focused on getting the best deal for Canadian workers and businesses. Prime Minister Carney has been clear that Canada will take as long as necessary, but no longer, to achieve that deal.

To support those negotiations, the Minister of Finance and National Revenue, the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, announced today that Canada would rescind the Digital Services Tax (DST) in anticipation of a mutually beneficial comprehensive trade arrangement with the United States. Consistent with this action, Prime Minister Carney and President Trump have agreed that parties will resume negotiations with a view towards agreeing on a deal by July 21, 2025.

This is from the government of Canada.   Truly a caving if ever there was one.

Looks like the mighty and much vaunted Canada blinked!!

Lmfao. You know they're losing big time when they claim victory because of a dropped "digital services tax," whatever that means to us coming from Canada.

I'll be saving so much money now....lmao.

So the answer is no...you'd rather keep making outlandish claims that are proven wrong every time

Yes. Value of dollar has completely tanked and bond market is getting propped up by the fed Reserve stepping in to buy bonds that nobody wants. This has helped prop the stock market up too.

Foundation of clay. Record setting deficits coming soon.

Lets remember the history.   Trump told canada that the digital tax was a no go.   Canada said we are doing it.   Trump said we are done talking.   Canada eliminates the digital tax.

You know you are losing big time when you adversary caves to you?   Is that what you are trying to say here?

WAIT!!??!! Did tariffs lower trade barriers?  HOW is that possible?  Did negotiating for fair trade and doing so from a position of strength result in FREER trade for American companies?  Don't we have 51 former intelligence honchos or 17 intelligence agencies or 13 Nobel Prize economists who can tell us this is not possible or 23 others who can say Kamala Harris' plan (which she could not articulate) was better for the economy?

Maybe economists should write fewer letters and try to found, create, and operate more businesses to learn how the economy works.

Posting for a friend.  15% tarriff on both sides means 15+15 = 30% so the market will tank 30%, the dollar will decline 30% and inflation will rise 30% correct rv?

For those that know how to trade the after/early markets get your short sells in tonight.  For those who don't know how then short sell everything at the open tomorrow/Monday.  It's gonna be a wild and crazy day.  If you dont get yor shorts in early then that wild and crazy short sell wizard red viking will be the only guy left standing at the close of trading tomorrow.
