Gun to your head would you rather decide a match by:

Clinch

or

Ball grab?

I think this league is going to draw more viewers then liv golf.

i don't see how / even the most casual golfer can tune into any golf evet be it PGA ,LIV, corn ferry etc  and immediately understand what they are watching/ most casual fans don't even understand folkstyle rules

How does it make money?

not sure it does / when you have a sport that is non-revenue bearing in college there is reason , the interest just isn't  there

UFC basically created an audience from nothing, it’s possible for a new sport to emerge.

But I don’t see how that happens without major rule changes.  Good luck explaining to casual viewers who “initiated the move,” or “not being passive isn’t about being aggressive, it’s about keeping your butt in the center,” or “the tie is broken by the guy who scored the most points with a single move”

it's going to be UWW FS rules with some exceptions.

i'm gonna do away with amplitude as criteria. last point scored is the only tie breaker. no one - not the athletes, fans, or coaches - wants to spend the last 30 seconds calculating.

there's going to be 8 weights. closely aligned w/ existing UWW weights.

guessing something like 145, 155, 165, 175, 190, 205, 220, HWT just since I doubt guys will want to cut for RAF. Could also see 135 being in there and combining 205 and 220 to a 210.

This really is a UFC card with all these matchups 4 years after we wanted to see them at their peak.

there's an inherent problem with a card right before Worlds.

there will still be good talent on card 1 but mostly domestic.

second card will have more international flavor.

I was watching sone RPW re runs on YouTube and it gave me a few thoughts.

The RPW announcers did a great job. There were 3. Nate Carr really brought the energy and was great to help emphasize exciting moments. One of the things I used to hate from NCAAs about a decade ago was how the announcers would basically try to teach you about wrestling. Freestyle is simpler than folkstyle(go ahead and fight me on this) - takedowns, push outs, and back exposure. I don't think too much time will be needed to help people know what they're watching.

RPW used a horn for period end. I liked that.

I am not sure what my thoughts are about putting sponsorships on the mat. Curious what others think. Putting it outside of the circle may not be visible often enough for a broadcast, but inside circle could be distracting if done incorrectly or too busy. You might want to limit it. It's obviously going to be Real American Beer.

Incorporate Hulk Hogan as the opener or opening sizzle real for each broadcast.

Try to secure a deal with Nike, Adidas, Asics, Rudis as exclusive singlet, shoe, apparel provider. If not, then it might be cool to see wrestlers out sponsors on their singlet for income.

Probably going to lean in on the patriotism and I think it's a great strategy for gaining fans that are new to wrestling. This is probably why Nomad's snowflake ass thinks it is stupid.

There is so so much that goes in to all the details of the product RAF ultimately determines to put out. It,s a huge undertaking.

Short matches and lots of scrambles. Pre-determined scenarios to demonstrate the huge range of attacks and pinning combinations in the sport. Instead of stall calls, put a guy in on another guy's leg. Get rid of any rule that's mildly subtle or confusing. Have some way to rack up advantage points that the wrestler can make a choice with during the match and during the season. Let viewers have input on matchups. Lastly for the love of god have some stats besides height and weight! Shots per match, go-to moves, anything to help viewers get an idea of wrestlers styles and brainstorm matchups.

Would prefer it be 85 KG then 95 KG

Knowing it is 92 KG, does this mean that Brooks is in UNL?

Will we see Brooks-Hendrickson?

There is and was "professional wrestling" in the USA. That it evolved into scripted theatrics like the modern WWE isn't just a coincidence and offers valuable insights.

I think the main challenge would be to somehow win over college wrestling fans.

I think wrestling lacks the knockout that boxing and mma have. Pinning or throwing someone isn't the same. Scoring points especially isn't.  I don't think there's that much crossover or potential with those fanbases (the singlet doesn't help either).

I didn't mean at the first event.

Obviously our USMNT will be focusing on World level medals (some for U23 and U20 as well - ahem PJ Duke).

That said, this isn't going to be a one-and-done card, right?  That would insinuate that being as Brooks and Pindrickson are both registered athletes and Brooks has gone one record saying that 97 KG is next, not 92 KG - I imagine that he will be in the UNLIMITED weight class.  Hell, there are only potentially four guys who would be in the UNLIMITED right now.
