has gotten me wondering. . .

  • Do we ever see a transgender wrestler compete in Worlds or Olympics?
  • Is not being able to compete as a transgender wrestler (in college and high school to a certain extent) a deterrent in USA?
  • Is this yet another reason Muslim wrestling countries/areas think western countries are completely insane?
  • Which country produces first transgender wrestler to compete at world championships/Olympics (or even continental championships) and when? (Answer: It's Canada, obviously! 🤣 and probably sooner than I think).

Discuss . . .

Most of the athletes that tend to be discussed with this topic aren't actually trans

Correct.

The only transgender athlete that I can think of that actually transitioned and then went to the Olympics was Laurel Hubbard, a Kiwi weightlifter. She DNPd at 87kg+ in Tokyo.

Is there one in Canada right now?  What have their results been?  I’m sure we’ll see one at Worlds since there’s no real qualification.  I’m skeptical we ever see one at the Olympics though

There was one who competed at the US Open like 12 years ago. I don't think she did very well, maybe won a match in the prelims or consolations but that was it. Hardly anyone said anything.

I wonder if USA wrestling would allow this today.

I believe so, but that doesn't make her trans. And like I said, the issue with the track governing body was not her sex or her chromosomes, but her testosterone levels.

She refused to undertake that medical procedure, has attempted to compete in longer distance events that don't require such treatment, and is currently in court challenging the (new) requirement.

Never has so much time been spent talking about something that hardly ever happens. Thrust me on this, the people who have their panties in a bunch over this not only don’t watch women’s sports, they HATE women’s sports. It’s just an excuse for bigots to bully a marginalized group.

100% agree... this is such a non issue that's being blown up to create manufactured outrage... The amount of news coverage this gets by certain outlets in proportion to the amount of athletes this applies to is asinine. If those news outlets talked about school shootings or even rare diseases affecting people in proportion to this topic it would flood the airways 24/7.

Transgender fuss is only happening with a certain subset of people intent on getting 'news' from a few specific outlets...

Yup - not only marginalized but among the most vulnerable.

There are a couple of sports science podcasts that have some extensive discussion of her cases that have come before CAS. Not bro science; actual scientists who work in the field.

The Real Science of Sport is a great one. Hosted by Dr. Ross Tucker. He talks about the physiological basis for the ban. They are compassionate re: her desire to compete but also understand the need for fairness.

They also have a discussion about the physiology of all sorts of sports events. Tour de France, Rugby World Cup, Tennis, Track & Field, etc. They also have guest experts on occasion, when the need arises.

LOL...this is dumb.  It's happening in female high school sports all over the country.  Bioglogical boys competing against biological girls in sports and smashing records. I have two daughters in sports and watch it all the time....and I LOVE women's sports - if it is actually women's sports. Don't come on here and claim we hate womens' sports because we don't want biological men competing against our daughters and sharing locker rooms. That's just dumb. Who is actually doing the bullying when a biological male is competing against a athletically marginalized group in biological women?

We've only had one instance of this happening at the high school level here. And it turned out to be bogus because the girl in question wasn't transgender at all. It was the parents of a player from a rival school that made the accusation because they didn't like seeing their daughters team lose.

Can we have your definition of "biological boy" and "biological girl"?

(this should be fun!)
