Ah yes, Pat, it's the girlfriend of a THWC member, who happens to vote for one political party, that is the problem here.

It's definitely not the fault of the person who was attempting to wrestle for (counts on fingers) his fourth different school.

Truth be told, I'm amazed that that woman had the stones to put that out there. Good on her.

Not an AJ fan in the slightest. In fact, the opposite. I think he deserves every bit of bad karma he gets. That being said, UNC just had a basketball player arrested for sexual misconduct a month ago,

FWIW, this basketball player missed an entire season due to the suspension (Minnow noted he was technically only suspended for “1 semester”). Although he may have been able to use it as a redshirt.

That being said, UNC just had a basketball player arrested for sexual misconduct a month ago, they have a 70+ y/o Bill Belichick running the FB program while dating a 24ish year old, and who knows how many FB players have had legal issues. So to say AJ bring "too much baggage" seems hypocritical.

They probably told AJ to step up his game!

It looks like he’s lifting in a hotel gym

I still want to see him get rejected by other schools, but the game is up when AJ figures out he could be internationally famous if he just filmed himself going from planet fitness to planet fitness changing in the ladies locker room and setting off the "lunk" alarm.

He's never in a legit power lifting (which is what he does) gym. Less ladies I guess.

theres a funny clip where he's doing his corny deadlift routine right in front of the sign for the ladies room.

Here's my two cents.

  • I've softened on AJ.  Not saying I'd want him on a team I root for, but I thought he conducted himself well enough last year that he deserves a second chance somewhere.  Like everyone else, I watched him at NCAAs waiting for the time bomb to go off, but he handled his wins and loss just fine. Give credit where it's due.
  • Minnow's a clown, but the UNC article does rub me the wrong way.  Who is Madison Soltys, and why is she quote-worthy?  It seems like the author is using her as a mouthpiece to basically say that the sexual assault charges are true, and that AJ's "camp" bullied her into dropping the charges. But no support is given beyond the accuser's say-so. This is where #metoo goes too far:  The accuser deserves to be heard, but if she drops her charges -- no matter the stated reason for doing so -- it's unfair to hold those charges against the accused, who now has no way to prove his innocence. It's just too easy to lodge bogus charges, say you're dropping them because you were "bullied," and ruin someone's life as a result. I realize AJ may not be the best vehicle for this message, as his history doesn't exactly scream martyrdom, but the principle still applies.
  • UNC withdrawing their offer rubs me the wrong way for the same reason.  There's plenty of good reasons to take a pass on AJ on the front end, but UNC had plenty of time to do their due diligence and still said yes.  To back out now smacks of caving to the post-article pressure, and now drags him through the mud unfairly.
  • All of this said, it may work out for the best.  UNC never struck me as a good fit for AJ.  His personality screams Jersey Shore so for the life of me I don't understand why he isn't at Rutgers, where's he's just 20 mins from the NJRTC for tougher goes, or maybe Rider or one of the LI schools.

Unless something new came out, this is pretty lame of UNC. Didn't have to take him in the first place, and now they're ruining his chances to wrestle at all. Seems fishy.

Calling UNC a prestigious University regarding NCAA Athletes is an Absolute Joke!,,,The Whole Athletic Department might be the dirtiest of All-Time in  NCAA History .. Should have been given the Death Penalty ( SMU Football) after fake classes for 18 Years

UNC athletics report finds 18 years of academic fraud - CNN

Nah dude, they were just good enough to draw scrutiny at the wrong time.

That’s every athletic department in every major school.

Insert cartman “stooodent atholetes” here.

US universities are corrupt as f*ck, they just were the gatekeepers to the job market prior to the internet, so now people ask more questions since the oligopoly has been defanged.

Lol, or AJ put in a transfer application without talking to Kohl, and Kohl went to the AD and said “no, reject him please.”

Kohl doesn’t strike me as a Ferrari bandwagon type of guy.  Sure he’s understands the business of coaching and has had a trip on the carousel recently, but nothing about him has ever made me believe he’d permit that sort of individual to be on his team.

I can confirm the connection of the girl quoted in the article to a UNC alumnus now part of THWC.

I was today years old when I learned straight couples use the term “partner”

I have seen older straight couples who are not married have this idea that "girlfriend" and "boyfriend" sound too young so they use partner.

Sure but is it true @JimmyCinnabon and @Jimmy Cinnabon could be considered "partners?"  🤔

I know several straight, married Australian couples who refer to their spouse as their "partner", as well.

Also, yeah, at some point if you're a 60 year, referring to your SO as a "girlfriend" or "boyfriend" seems a little weird.

AJ didn't make a deal with UNC. He made a deal with some money guys who support the athletic program. For better or for worse, we've tied our athletic development programs to our academic institutions. Sometimes those two have different goals
