Don't be naive Red, they are doing it for effect. They hate Israel more than they love their own people. The lives of their citizens has maximum value as a propaganda tool.

They also like the sympathy this creates with "useful idiots" like a few of our posters, and the corresponding influx of money from oil rich Arab countries and Iran.  If Hamas stopped hiding in schools, mosques, hospitals, residential neighborhoods, etc. and took care of their own people, the donations from the billionaires in the region would start to dry up.  The Hamas leaders need thousands of dead and starving Palestinians to keep their personal bank accounts growing.  Peace with Israel is exactly what the leaders of Hamas do not want.

So why does Israel keep giving them exactly what they want? If this is true, couldn't they solve this problem by simply not killing thousands of civilians?

The logic of your post is a complete endorsement of what I've been saying all along - the actual way to defeat Hamas is through a peaceful political process that gives the Palestinians a legitimate path to statehood and self-determination.

Hmmm... you don't think this is what Hamas does?

Can Israel let the participants and supporters of 10/7 go unpunished?

What do you suggest for them to do to eliminate Hamas?

They've punished them 50x over already. I added the answer to your third question to my original post. I'll put it here too.

A.  Hamas doesn’t want peace

B. Most of Palestinian people still support Hamas and those that don’t are scared to do anything about it.

C.  As long as there are both Jews and Muslims in Gaza there will never be peace.

Guess we'll put you down for ethnic cleansing/genocide. Thanks for chiming in.

to legitimize a path forward was in effect until 10/7

It actually wasn't, which is why 10/7 happened in the first place.

The lack of logic by the wingers is unreal. Proposing to murder civilians in Gaza because "most" voted for hamas is as bad as saying let's kill all Americans because Trump is evil and the u.s. voted him in. You can't make this craziness up.

Especially crazy considering most *didn't* vote for Hamas. Only like 10%, maybe even less, of the Gazan population has ever voted for Hamas.

Has ever?    There was one vote.

Exactly. It's almost as Hamas won a tightly contested election with a minority of votes and then promptly dissolved the democratic apparatus so they could never lose power....

Your guys' worldview is so contradictory. You don't even realize it most of the time. You correctly understand that Hamas is a brutal military terrorist group that runs Gaza under a military dictatorship, but then can't understand why the Gazans don't simply vote them out.

Maybe if you stopped for two seconds to actually think instead of regurgitating propaganda and cliches, you'd see these very obvious flaws in your arguments.

Just like @Interviewed_at_Weehawken, who, without realizing it, perfectly laid out why Israel's current military strategy is doomed to failure because it plays right into Hamas' source of power. You guys are capable of understanding this stuff if you think for yourselves. Well, at least *some* of you...

Who is to say what I realize and don't realize?

I think I might know a little more about the area than you think you do.

My Arab-American cousin worked on a Kibbutz for a time and I heard her stories about living there.  She is Arab in appearance and had IDF point Uzis at her on more than one occasion as they checked her paperwork.  Not to mention that she married a man with the last name of Gaza...

Neither her nor her husband are Hamas supporters unlike some of our board membership...

As you support Hamas in their venture to do just that.

I agree that the Gazans cannot simply vote them out.   But a ruler only has power as long as those ruled over give that power.   The power ulitmately rest with the people.

There is no doubt in my mind that if Hamas were eliminated and the Gazans could vote again, they would vote for whoever said they would get rid of Israel.   It is how they have been educated for the last several generations.

I don't support Hamas either. I just explained how I want them to be defeated.

You have stats showing that most people in Gaza voted for Hamas? Post them here!

50% voted for Hamas in that election.    40 for the other terror group.   90+% for terror groups
