At this stage is his career he's more talented than both of them in striking.  Michael Chandler just learned head movement a couple years ago and Gaethje has no real boxing skills.  He just puts his head down and swings.  Luckily he has hammers for fists

3 years into his MMA career, Chandler won a belt.

3 years into his MMA career, Gaethje won a belt and successfully defended it.

3 years into his MMA career, Nickal lost to the only ranked fighter he's faced.

What has Bo said about his loss?   Does it spur him to improve and continue or is he rethinking this plan of MMA?

but pretty much this:

Saw one clip where he showed humility and said RDR is just a better, more experienced and skilled fighter.  He followed with the generic, "I have to get better".

I guess you didn't get the memo. It's not 2011 anymore.  The fighters are far better now

How many of those 3 guys started their career in the UFC?

I'll answer for you...

Only Bo...

if he is truly walking around at 215-220 he should work on putting good size and fight at light heavy. The skill discrepancy between those two divisions is immense and he would have much more favorable matchups on paper.

The guys fighting for belts in Bellator, ONE, etc. are a lot better than the guys at the bottom of the UFC.

By the way...

Bo started in iKON...

So the other guys won titles in what we could call D2 and D3....

Gaethje was undefeated until he signed with the UFC.

I'd say Bo gets 2 more fights to figure it out. He needs to stop pretending he's a well rounded mma guy. Stick with his roots and he might just be decent fighter.

As a former pro wrestling guy I doubt it. In terms of charisma Bo makes Steveson look like Julius Caesar.

I'm not talking about pro wrestling. Bo should join Askren and Zahid in Real American Freestyle

Maybe try out the wtt.  If you’re the best 86 kg dude in the world he should breeze through the field.

He did also basically say he still thinks he can beat Chimaev.  Seems like he wants to have his cake and eat it too since he acknowledged RDR was better and said “everyone I’ve fought since my first fight has had way more experience than me.”

I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect him to be champ caliber already, but I do think it’s reasonable to expect him to be top 15ish.   I think the better question then is Bo overrated, is is RDR underrated.

I think it is also important to note that Bo has been involved in MMA a lot longer than 3 years.  He began pursuing it in 2019.  DC was involved in trying to get Bo managed by Zinkin Entertainment, but it looks like Bo signed with First Round Management instead.  That was November 2019.  Bo was sidetracked by Covid (and so was everyone else) but I'm sure he was still training MMA, even going into 2021 Olympic trials.  So, basically he has been a pro MMA fighter for about 5.5 years.  That should be enough time to figure things out.

UFC does not produce undefeated folks.   Is there a case of an undefeated UFC fighter?   I am not aware of any.   UFC is tough and just about anyone can win on a given day.   The thing is, can Bo figure this out?  Can he adjust and improve.   He felt pain maybe for the first time and can he overcome that and come out stronger.   He has not been challenged much.   Hopefully he turns this into a win streak.

I think Bo has been properly labeled as a high level prospect.  That outcome can go both ways.  As for RDR I think he's properly rated. Outside the noise and spectacle of the last fight he was and still is considered a legit contender for the title.  He's up there in age so the window is small.
