No, that's...not what happened...at all. We put them on Japan, Australia(arguably, our most important ally given Pine Gap and how vital that is to US intel). 

We did that for no discernible reason other than Trump thinks tariffs are a good way to raise money. If I need money... I don't just start charging friends and people who rely on me. It's... well, it defines Trump perfectly.

We export things like Semiconductors that the rest of the world needs.

India refused to put tariffs on the US. Japan, South Korea. Those were the countries China needed them. They're working with the US.

Is anybody else putting tariffs on China though? Just because they're working w the u.s. doesn't mean they are joining our side vs China. 

China can hang in there until at least 2029 (even though I still think trump runs into major problems by early 2027 anyway). No catastrophe for them if u.s. is the only big country putting big tariffs on them.
