My point is that everyone calls this the "national" duals. That words means something that does not apply here.

It's literally named the National Duals Invitational.

By whom?

11 of the top 12 seems pretty "National" don't ya think?   That "one" ain't playing regardless of name so it seems.

No different tan the plethora of youth "nationals".   Some guy wants to give it the name NATIONAL DUALS with no sanctioning body giving the event any true value

The value of an event comes from the competitors. The top 12 teams (plus 4) from across the nation are invited.

For this to succeed, they really need Oklahoma State to blow everyone out.   There's a chance that Penn State shuts out all the BIG teams invited.  It would look really bad to the event if one of those teams won.

How a team performs later in the season doesn't impact the quality of a point-in-time event.

For the event to succeed, fans need to show up, tune in, and have a good time.

One of the neat things about the Natiinal Duals was getting to see backups at spots in the early rounds.  That and the show up and have a good time thing.

It matters greatly.   A "champ" getting blown out lessens an event.   Events like the Southern Scuffle and Soldier Salute are lower level events as multiple weights don't have wrestlers who would All American later that season.

Disagree. Different events. Different parts of the season. The All Star Classic is a great event in October. It isn't diminished by the fact that most of the winners didn't win the titles in March.

There were only a few matches worthwhile at the past All Star Classic.  So many top guys are turning it down that there's only a few each year.

If Max McEnelly had won NCAAs this year it wouldn't have made the All Star Classic "look bad" because they had Parker vs. Carter. It's still a great event with great competition. That doesn't change because of what happens later in the year.

I'm not surprised that Penn State isn't doing this.  I'm a little surprised at what salty b I t c h e s some of the fans are being about the event daring to exist.

Carter was the only top ranked wrestler who wrestled.  National champ vs. National champ was a match everyone wanted to see.  The rest of the lineup was pretty boring.  Could have had Allirez/Mendez, Otoole/Haines, Gable/Kerk.  Instead we get boring matches like Haines/Devos.

Psu fans are bad for the sport.

No, by your logic Gable/Kerk would have made the event look really bad because Wyatt later beat them both and OToole/Haines would mean the October event is lessened because Hamiti beat them both in March.

cult-like behavior - their lord and savior Ca-El Sanderson didn't sanction the event so they must trash its mere existence

To be honest, I have no problem with PSU not participating.  There will be fun individual matchups that we don’t get, but there’s now more parity between the competing teams.  If everyone but Penn State participates, we are still getting a fun and competitive event that I look forward to.

At this point, I don't think you should be surprised by this behavior from PSU fans, it more par for the course.

It's certainly their choice, but there is no need for them to make comments like its not a real national duals or downplay the event because they didn't accept the invitation.

It's a chance to grow the sport and create a cool event.  .  Cael doesn't think it helps his team win NCAAs in March so they are not going regardless of the impact it could have.

I agree it's fine that they don't want to go, but its telling that everyone thinks this is a good idea.
