If MN threw the brick to challenge the takedown, they would of lost the challenge (of course) but Gable would've gotten a re-start from the referee's position, where he'd have a better chance of getting an escape. So was MN out of bricks? Were they too ethical to abuse the rules this way? Or did they just not think of this?

They must have gotten to the coaches too. Expand But hopefully if said brick was thrown the ref would've let the 25 seconds play out before stopping to review. BTW: Iowa would've thrown a brick and if they were out of bricks then Tom would've thrown Terry onto the mat. .

It's especially problematic when they call a TD and the guy stops crawling up the body because he already has the TD - only to have it reversed when he could have completed the TD had it not been called at TD earlier. 1

Are refs allowed to ignore the brick? I doubt it or they would have when Manning used it for a lung timeout.
