Trump ruined Session 5 (surprisingly apolitical, presented provocatively because I'm a stinker)

So what did the POTUS cost, me the tax payer, for this "see me, see me" moment last night?  For a guy that's so concerned about reducing waste in govt spending, he sure doesn't have any problem spending my dime to use AirForce 1 and all the cost of for the security to have his "narcissist" spot light.  I thought for a second the channel switched to FOX news.

He was elected by the majority to represent the people.  Are you saying he shouldn't be at public events with the people?

Regardless of who showed up, how do some not see the plus side of a sitting president taking interest in a sport - OUR sport, to the point of making an effort to attend. The crowd sure enjoyed it.

This may very well be a troll thread. There’s no way so many do not see the plus side here.

Here’s what may be going on here. Many of the young rudderless people here want so bad to be accepted by alot of these long term miserable has-beens they’ll say anything. Have a mind of your own for goodness sake. It’s all about growing the sport -

And yet you started this thread blaming a change of format on political stunts.

not a stunt! i can't stress enough that my objection was logistical, not political.

what i believed to be a visit-induced change was an unfortunate side effect of a reasonable security practice. i don't begrudge trump going to the ncaa wrestling finals any more than i thought it was odd when obama went to an ncaa basketball game or when any president goes to the super bowl.

If a bunch of wrestlers gets invited to the White House, will you question that to???

well, koll and yianni (both of whom i have met and like a lot, personally) went to the white house during trump's first term and i didn't like it then for explicitly political reasons but it made sense for them to go if it aligned with their values. am i not allowed to have an opinion? i'm not stopping them from anything or even mentioning it without a prompt from you.

whether or not it is good for wrestling overall, i have no idea. mma is also very conservative-coded and it is absolutely good business for ncaa wrestling to get the mma crowd to care more about college wrestling. dana white has invested a lot in getting nickal over to mixed results (because he is boring and a mediocre striker).

it's not a troll thread and i am not some kid intellectually trapped by marxist social pressure. i'm a 54 year old lawyer.

show me the man and i will find the problem he creates

.

why does it have to align with values?

teams have been going for decades... no matter WHO was president...

now only if you agree with the pres?

I don't care what public events he goes to if he does it on his own dime. The guys a billionaire.  Didn't see him in KC last year.  Think he'd be at nats this year if he had to pay for it l Iike any other citizen? Your ignoring the point of the post, but that is common when your wearing blinders.  He claims to be "cutting the fat" out of govt and has no problem spending that money on opportunities to stroke his ego.  I guess that 1% majority was happy to see him.  Most college aged kids could care less.  I'm fiscally conservative and would have felt the same, regardless of who the POTUS was.  I don't make unnecessary trips or attend events if I'm in debt.  But then again, "There's rules for thee, then there's rules for me."  He's just special, just ask him.

it's changed recently! a number of eagles didn't go to see obama either.

and tbh, "accepting an invitation from the president regardless of who he is" is a value that he could reasonably have under these circumstances. (though i think koll is conservative, and not only because he posted a pic on ig with jim jordan and called him "a great wrestler and better congressman.") i stg i am not trying to be political!

it's your choice to assume bad faith. i had no idea they were running four mats until i got to the arena a little late and they were already at 157 in the consi semis. i had no idea they were going to keep rolling on four mats until they announced it. jason bryant says that the format wasn't changed for the presidential visit and i'm inclined to believe him but still think it's a worse format.

so you threw a tantrum when obama went to the ncaa tourney.. and continues to go... after being out of office?

If Obama is going the ncaa bb tournament and we are paying for it, then yes, I'm not for that either.  Let him pay for it.  Believe me, I'm not in tantrum state.  And I'll give my "Scouts Honor" on that.

I didn’t think about that.  I didn’t realize that all of those secret service and staff would have just had the night off and wouldn’t have gotten paid, if he didn’t go to the tournament.

Do you think they one of those punch in clocks on Air Force one, or do they have to do it in Washington before they leave?
