I think it is more likely we see Paddy at 174 than 157 again.

With the Rathjen news, and also learning that Thomsen has another year, here's what I think might be UNI's best chance.

125: Anderson
133: Land
141: Farber
149: Rathjen
157: Downey - I know he's said he'd really like to move up, but I'm ignoring that for now as that throws off everything else
165: Thomsen
174: Simma
184: Gunderson/Walrath
197: Gunderson/Walrath
285: Voelker

If Gunderson and Walrath are as good as I've heard people say, UNI could be looking at qualifying all 10 again. Quite a few team points lost in Keck, but UNI should still be pretty solid top to bottom.

UNI will be solid for sure, very good dual team that takes a step back in tournament scoring.

You think Paddy can beat Kharchla?

I am with Dr. @MPhillips.  I don't think we see Kharchla back.

Is Fishback transferring to tOSU?

There have been a lot of rumors about that, but I haven't seen anyone claim more than speculation.  I believe he is from Ohio and the departure of Welsh was what had people putting two and two together.

Ya he wrestled for Aurora, won 2 state titles, actually beat Shumate in freestyle back in the day...I saw he was in the portal...it'd be a nice pickup...

Thanks for the info.  Are you a Buckeye fan?  Do you expect Rogotzke to use his RS this year?

RUTGERS - FINAL(???) UPDATE

125: Smith/Gibson (This will be the black hole weight this year)

133: Shawver

141: Olivieri

149: Clark

157: Harer

165: Barbosa

174: Pinto

184: SCW

197: Cotton

285: Catka

Things look brighter than they were a month ago, but I will temper my expectations for now.  Good dual team, but I have no clue who I see AAing in this crew come March.  Shawver could have the fire to come back after a disappointing 2025.  Catka and Pinto just need to put one good tournament together.  SCW and Olivieri showed they have some fight in them.  This is a team that has just as high of a chance at getting 0 AAs as they do at getting 4-5.  We shall see...

Don't sleep on Smith. I've been very high on for a long time. I know he was a bit undersized coming out of HS. But if he put on some weight he could be a solid option imo.

Gibson could surprise some people at 125. He had a solid redshirt year at 133 losing close matches to Leete and Berginc at 133. He was a high recruit that fell due to injuries in high school.

I don't doubt either on a technical level honestly.  It just has to do with size currently.  Can Gibson make the cut down?  He swears he can via X, but how will he look once he gets there?

Smith came into RU very small.  He just needs some muscle packed on.

For NC State I think it will be as follows unless we get some more transfers.

125 Vince Robinson

133 Zach Redding

141 Ryan Jack

149 Koy Buesgens

157 Jackson Arrington

165 Is hard to call. Possibly Latrell Schafer bumps up from 157

174 Matty Singleton

184 Dylan Fishback

197 Either Andrew Macchiavello or maybe a transfer if we can pick one up

285 Isaac "the punisher" Trumble

would rather see jack at 133 and Redding at 141 - always felt he wrestled better with a little weight on him even when dresser threw him in at 149

I saw Gibson in action this past season at an open.  Didn't see much of a jump over HS.  Still trying to muscle and go upper body.  Good against the 15+ ranked guys, but unlikely against top 10 / AA caliber.

Assuming he is what you just described, that is not a black hole for Rutgers but moreso a serviceable starter.
