@Wrestleknownothing do you know where to find the dominance scores?

Wrestlestat has them.

While the Hodge is no longer about pinning (it is not even one of the criteria anymore), I just don't see how it does not go to Pinfalldrickson after that epic upset. Remember it is a vote. And voters will have loved that.

My heart says emotional psu fans need Cstar to win the hodge for one reason.  They want him to be the goat.  Why is this relevant ?

how can you be the true legitimate goat if you were never the goat in a single season.  The hodge helps make that argument for them.

Based on what.  Whom is orchestrating this ?

ESPN put what all of us knew would be an obvious blow out as their premier match of the night... Had him carry an American flag out.... Had him salute Donald Trump as the American Hero.... it's a storybook ending. And Gable isn't that good of an actor to play it off like he was actually shocked. Facts.

I guess it's called Match Power. Here's the top 10

Match Power

#1 Wyatt Hendrickson (Oklahoma State) 5.148

#2 Sonny Sasso (Virginia Tech) 4.909

#3 Rocco Welsh (Ohio State) 4.800

#4 Mitchell Mesenbrink (Penn State) 4.778

#5 Carter Starocci (Penn State) 4.769

#6 Gable Steveson (Minnesota) 4.684

#7 Ty Watters (West Virginia) 4.667

#7 Christian Moder (Bellarmine) 4.667

#9 Justin Rademacher (Oregon State) 4.600

#10 Gavin Nelson (Minnesota) 4.500

No, it isn't

While they did change the criteria, it seems to me that was a reaction to the pin becoming so rare.  But if I had a vote I would give Hendrickson extra credit for the pins, which are the most exciting thing in wrestling and the best evidence of dominance.

Hodge was about pinning, maybe not quite McCready level pinery but he was a pinfest fool nonetheless.  Shirely a datafool on these hear boards could understand.  And giving out half Hodges is just plan stupidfest.  Btw: I love the past and clowns.  🙂

Ok.    Whom told gable to throw the match.  I dunno man you’re reaching.  But whatev

Follow the $$$$$.   Where is the next $$$ grab for espn.   A full year from.  Now for one prime time broadcast.  Is the juice worth the squeeze?   It’s not like fans will wake up and say shyte I’m a ncaa wrestling fan all of a sudden.

if there is real $$$ to be grabbed maybe.  I just don’t see it.

I’m all for Hendrickson winning the hodge and he’s up there with Messenbrink as the most dominant on the year. But isn’t one of the criteria past accomplishments? I remember that being a big argument when Dieringer won the hodge and everyone thought it shoulda been Zain.

5xer going through the returning Champ is pretty impressive, what he did last year on a bum knee pretty impressive. I’m by no means a Starocci fan but I don’t know how he doesn’t win the hodge if it’s not a pinning/bonus award alone anymore.

Based on everything he's done. He hasn't lost a match on the mat for 4 years, only 5x champ, undefeated, 85% bonus rate. Both he and MM wrestled much tougher schedules in the Big Ten. You don't win the Hodge based on one upset, he spent the regular season coasting by being in the Big 12.

So ... someone else had more and beat 2 NCAA champs.

Yeah, and a lot of guys had more than Brooks last year.  CS is undefeated and the only 5x champ ever.  That trumps the great season by Hendrickson, IMO.

1 – Record

2 – Dominance/Bonus-Point Percentage

3 – Quality of Competition

4 – Sportsmanship

 Those are the criteria

I'm just effin around, saw a few people on Twitter getting pretty deep into it though. I think it's more likely that Wyatt just kicked some ass tonight, but thinking back on it, everything was pretty storybook ending right there. Made for tv type moments. I loved it either way. I doubt anyone would pay serious bucks to for somebody to lose an NCAA final.

And super kudos.  @1032004 called this.   I didn’t.   But he did.    Kudos to that prediction.

Not Hodge criteria.

But it is, it might not be official but it is. How do you think Ringer won it when he beat Zain, it was based on past performand. Zain had more wins, an 89% bonus rate while Ringer's was 82%. 4xers always get it (unless there are two) so you have to give it to a 5xer. Carter is friggin' 25-0 in the NCAA tournament, if that doesn't win the Hodge then nothing should.

Also Carter beat 6 of the other guys in the top ten while Hendrickson beat 4 and one was a hobbled Kerk.

Now the rules committee has to factor in how hobbled someone is in a sea of hobbled people…..   Psu fans gonna psu.

What % does sportsmanship which is an official part of the hodge voting play.  I don’t think sir LT pizzed on any graves lately.
