What is the record number of transfers for one wrestler?

Guiseppe Hoose has wrestled for 4 different D1 college programs (Hofstra, Buffalo, Oklahoma, Drexel). Has anyone else wrestled for 4 different teams or more?

He was on the roster at some NAIA school in Florida. But never actually took the mat for them as a grad transfer.

Buchanan has 3. Wyoming, Oklahoma and Iowa. Not the most, but still a good amount.

Same with Parco: Fresno, ASU, Iowa.

Anthony Molton is also in the Parco category but on team 3: Old Dominion, Fresno, Campbell

Sammy Alvarez is on team three: Rutgers, OKState, Rider

Evan Bockman is on team three: Cal Baptist, Utah Valley, ISU

Pretty impressive considering Bono wouldn't sign off.

I feel like 3x transfers aren't all that uncommon anymore. We'll probably see more of them going forward. Andrew Long was doing the 3 school tour before it was cool, though. ISU, PSU, Grand View.

4 isn't as impressive in the last 5 years like it used to be.

Before Downey was doing 5, and before Andrew Long was just an amateur transferee, Eddie McCray did 5.

Brendt Noon, Mike Schmidlin, & Terry Ullom are some of the early leaders in the 4 team category. Some other 4 guys are Dustin May, Tyshawn White, Abner Romero, DeAndre Reed, Edwin Cooper, Justin Ransom, Cody Karstetter, and Jacob Mitchell.

There are definitely more than that, but those are some quick ones I have data for.

Pretty sure he was a grad assistant there, not an actual wrestler.

Then he wouldn't be listed on the roster, he'd be under the coaches tab. The plan may have been to have him be a grad assistant then switch to the roster for the 2nd semester. But he didn't stick around long enough.

That's an impressive list, definitely more than I was expecting. For the wrestlers who competed before say, 2000, how'd they pull off 4 schools? Feels like it hasn't been so long since the transfer rules were relaxed. Stuff like the year in residence requirement (sitting out a year at the new school), not being able to transfer intra-conference, no grad transfer rule, nonguaranteed financial aid, limited communications, and what not made it tough to compete at 2 schools while maintaining eligibility. 4 is bananas.

McCray did D2-->D1-->JUCO-->NAIA (dropped)--> NAIA
Noon did D1-->D2-->JUCO-->D1
Schmidlin did D2-->JUCO--> JUCO --> D1
Ullom did D3--> JUCO-->JUCO--D1

The answer to your question is to transfer to other divisions.

One thing I noticed which was nuts was Campbell’s 125 pounder Anthony Molton.

He went to Old Dominion out of high school…dropped program

He then went to Fresno state from there..dropped program. He ends up at Campbell and we all know how darn close they were to dropping their program.

As far as 3, some come to mind right away ….

Austin Gomez comes to mind with Iowa St, Wisconsin, Michigan

Parco with Fresno State, Arizona St, Iowa

Buchanan with Wyoming, Oklahoma, and Iowa.
