This has been asked before, mainly about A.J. but Angelo employed it to great effect last night too in beating Plott.  People said RBY keeping 1 arm behind the back was stalling.  What about wrestling from one or both knees?

I think dropping to a knee when not in contact with the opponent should be stalling. Or at least there should be a count before stalling is called.

I also think the count should be cumulative for that AND for grasping an ankle while on top.

Sounds reasonable.  How about a 3 count for non-contact wrestling on one or both knees is an automatic stall?

If it restarts every time, three makes sense to me. If it is cumulative, five makes sense to me.

Jordan Leen employed neutral from the knees very well and I think in some of his most competitive matches there may have been some stall calls. But my memory is not sharp as to the match or specifics of the calls.  Watching yesterday reminded me of Leen and of course AJ.

Jimmy, not knocking you for this thread but I think it's too soon.  WKN has great points and I agree with his take but the problem is the dual is so fresh and a lot of posters on this forum are too emotional to have this conversation yet

I feel like the question needs to be clarified.  Is it:

1.  Should wrestling from your knees be considered stalling, based on the current rule set?

or

2.  Should a rule be added to make wrestling from your knees stalling?

If it’s #1, I’d say no, since the Ferrari bros often shoot from their knees.  For that reason, I’d also say no to #2

I like wkn proposal. If in neutral and not in contact then going to one knee garner's a count. Repeatedly going to one knee starts the stall calls.

It's stalling. When dropping to a knee a wrestler is avoiding engagement and taking a defensive position.   If someone backs up throughout the match and likes to fire off shots when getting to the edge would you say that also is not stalling?

If ever there was a deserved exception to my hypothetical/desired rule change HE would be it.

Someone that backs up (such as Teemer) is preventing the other guy from initiating an offense.  Someone that drops to a knee is not preventing the other guy from initiating an offense IMO.

Dropping to one knee in neutral is literally taking a defensive position.  It's text book stalling.

If you pray on your knees you are stalling.

When you call my name
It's like a little prayer
I'm down on my knees
I want to take you there
In the midnight hour
I can feel your power
Just like a prayer
You know I'll take you there

Jimmy, I'm not going to post in your other thread out of principle and do it on this one because it's a decent subject.  You need to hear it.  You're Iowa can win this year with Arnold and Ferrari at 174 and 184 is absolutely dog sh*t and stupid.  Troll better

I understand the argument of dropping to a knee being stalling but the match last night is a poor choice to illustrate dropping to a knee as stalling.  Ferrari was the more offensive wrestler.

I disagree that simply going to a knee is stalling.  Wrestlers can stay offensive while on one knee.

Nothing in the rules about “taking a defensive position.”  Key words IMO are about “maintaining action,” and if he is shooting from there he is maintaining action, and nothing is stopping his opponent from trying to initiate an offense (snap down, etc).

Ferrari was NOT offensive from his knees.  His TDs resulted after Plott accepted a tie up, they both stood and Plott tried to push forward (mistake) with the tie.  From standing.  There was NO on-the-knee offense.

I asked somewhere else. Show me a couple matches where a good wrestler repeatedly goes to one knee and his opponent, also a good wrestler, starts firing off shots at the now on one knee wrestler.

What I am trying to suggest is that this tactic does remove action from the wrestling.
