There have been a gagillion true freshmen better than the starter in the history of d1 wrestling.  Pure Iowa hatred right here is all this is.   How do the recruited over psu peoples feel?

Sure there have, but the developing pattern here at 184 for is a little too open and obvious.

Whatever.  This is the first or second year that true freshmen can wrestle in a real dual without burning the shirt.  Of course you’re going to do different things now vs years past.  You’re just a hater.

i'm not sure anyone has said Brands isn't allowed to determine the lineup.

You do realize you have called a lot of good posters "haters" lately? This lost any sting a long time ago.

Thats a great point. I don't think Arnold has anything to lose by wrestling, Brands looking to make sure they're justified in shoving him into the portal makes sense from this angle....

I don’t think he goes into the portal based on anything from this season.  But maybe he does if he can’t get back down to 174

Sure...there are True Freshmen who are better than those ahead of them. They generally don't waste a year of a prized recruit for a marginal upgrade when one is a True Freshmen, the other a RS Freshmen and both can fit into the lineup next year. 

You seem obsessed with PSU. This isn't about getting "recruited over." This is just an...odd way to make the best use of what you would think would be two of the young building blocks of your program.

I think he'd be there now. This is a bit of a cheap shot but in HS he missed weight at Ironman while wrestling for Wyoming Seminary who was looking for the title and #1 ranking.....if he hasn't had a lot personal growth he ain't much for weight cutting.

Yeah...no, you're right. It's FAR more likely the 5X NC and then the guy who has gone 3/3/2/1 with losses to Brooks and or Hidlay in the NCAA Tournaments...they'll probably be the #2 and #3 seeds or...#1 and #4?

Hmmm...how do all of the kids who put in time on the mat to have high AA's purchased for their grad year of eligibility?

Iowa makes a living buying from the second-hand market.  They got Ferrari the younger because they entertained the elders with their associated baggage as well.

And you wanna talk about getting recruited over? Go as, tony ramos and thomas gilman how that went for them and how they felt about that...

Has anyone that was supplanted by a transfer actually been a legit AA threat?  The closest I can think of is probably Glazier and he has not done well this season

What they are doing with Ferrari makes good sense.  He is a legit potential 4x champ who has very little chance of winning in that weight class this year (not a knock on him at all, that was some impressive match today and some notably gracious behavior afterwards).  And this way they won what to that program is a very important dual and saved Arnold from a gratuitous loss.

The only thing that from the outside doesn't make sense to me is Arnold at 184, where he by the eye test (a) looks too small to have a decent chance at high AA; and (b) would score more, perhaps much more than Kennedy at 174, and you could put Brands at 184.  I guess that you could say they didn't know if Brands would be able to wrestle with his injury, but Arnold seems like he's not getting the good end of the deal here wrestling at that weight.
