I'm wondering more about Plott since there are likely bigger seeding implications. Brands is a "trust the process" kidn of guy, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Ferrari go, esp if Arnold's been battling through some sort of injury.

They don't need Ferrari this weekend.  They may need him next weekend against Plott.  Plus the Plott outcome a good opportunity to reconsider who goes at b10.

Flynn over Cruz 3-0
Ayala over Wells 3-3
Vombaur maj Schriever 7-3
Parco maj Roberts 7-7
Askey dec Estrada 10-7
Caliendo dec Sparks 10-10
Kennedy dec Whiting 10-13
Mcenelly dec Arnold 13-13
Buchanan dec Salazar 13-16
Gable tech Kueter 18-16

IF, and it’s a big IF, Teemer is out, they may need him this weekend. Could come down to bonus without Teemer.

If you're intelligent and trying to maximize your ROI as a team and for the individual wrestler you don't burn his shirt when Plott, Keck, and Star all exit the stage after this year.

This is 100% correct.  Even if he can beat Plott, he still not beating Star or Keck.  Keep him in RS and get an extra year overlap with Bassett in the lineup.

If Angelo has 2 dates, use them on both Minn and OSU duals.

Ethen Lofthouse
In 2013, Lofthouse, a two-time All-American, was cited for shooting a duck with a bow and arrow outside his residence. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources also filed additional charges against him for illegal hunting.

Connor Ryan and Alex Meyer
In 2013, Ryan and Meyer, two freshmen wrestlers, were cited for hunting rabbits on campus after hours. They were also cited for discharging toy guns and slingshots.

Sam Stoll

''As I shared previously, Sam Stoll's health was our number one concern and he is doing well,'' coach Tom Brands said Friday. ''I am disappointed in his actions related to this incident, as they do not reflect our values.''

The craziest part is they also kicked a future national champ off their team for burglary but kept these guys on the team.

Does Brands really care about finishing the dual season in second place instead of third?

Did I just ask a really stupid question?

Can Ferrari wrestle any more matches without losing his RS? If so, it'll be him versus McEnelly.

Smh. Yes, Ferrari can wrestle one more time seems to be the consensus and the argument is whether he is used against Minnesota or Oklahoma State.

No Ferrari has even stayed at one school for four years, let alone five. Smoke'em if you got'em. It's not like they're going to be a better team next year.

I get the history with the Ferraris jumping around but is there any sign that Angelo would leave?  Hard to imagine at this point.

I guess the choice belongs to Tom Brands: who does he prefer to lose to McEnelly, Arnold or Ferrari? Betcha it's Ferrari.

I hate stuff like that. I think holding guys out of big matches to protect their record is pathetic and cowardly, and I know many coaches do it.

Is that right? I thought he used three competition dates (PSU dual, ISU dual, Soldier Salute) and was good for two more before burning his shirt

Was it technically an NAIA event? I didn't think it counted

He is not allowed to wrestle unattached in the first semester, so I would assume that if he competed, it counted.

Burning Ferrari's redshirt this year would be one of the most colossal blunders in Iowa wrestling history

I think not burning Arnold’s redshirt last year may have been worse.  If he scores 6 points last year they go from 5th to 2nd.

In hindsight, they probably should have used Arnold last year, Ferrari this year.  If Ferrari beats Plott then the gap may be wide enough to consider it anyway.

Brands did previously say he puts his best team on the mat every year and tries to win every year.

After watching Ferrari wrestle starocci I don't think it's impossible for Ferrari to beat him if they wrestle again.  I wouldn't pick Ferrari to win but I do think it's possible. What better way to become a legend in the sport than to deny a 5 timer? Angelo is probably itching to go this year.

Parco, teemer and Buchanan are all done after this year.  Iowas chance at beating Penn State doesn't get any better next year.

Brands should let Ferrari wrestle, he could always redshirt later.

There was nothing in that match that showed Ferrari can beat Starocci this year.  With another year in the room developing better set ups, sure.  But this year, no way.

Are you trying to claim that taking a knee and backing up straight for the boundary won't beat Carter Starocci? What's-a-matter you? 🙂
