Wish Paddy didn’t sit out but gotta protect seeding ig. Still can’t believe he was the number 1 recruit

Great, very fun dual. Sparks obviously wouldn’t have tech’d Gallagher and Askey wouldn’t have majored Sasso, but you go with who you got I suppose.

Supposedly Paddy a bit banged up, not sure if he even gets the win bumping up to 165. Fun dual to watch, may just force myself to watch basketball when the Buckeyes take on Nittany Nation next week.

A couple matches in OT found the Gophers giving up quick escapes, forcing the decision to go neutral next period. That rarely works out. Seems like a better strategy would be to drop to the ankle on top and ride ugly, giving up a stall warning since they had one to give.

You're not wrong. But, IMO, the neutral position seems the best way to settle it in OT.

Vombaur was the highlight for me. Almost had the winning takedown a couple times and could have got a stalling point.

If the dual was in Carver and VomBaur was a Hawkeye, he would’ve gotten 2-3 stalling points.

I hate ride outs as a rule. Not just because my team lost on them twice tonight, but it’s just a crap way to decide a match imo.

Yeah I might tune in for 141 and turn it off

Not when you’re down by 1.

As I said, you're not wrong.

But, realistically, if we're going to discuss strategy after the fact - riding harder would be a good idea.

McEnelly is really good at timing guys stepping and dropping in on the low single.

Vombaur was the better wrestler.  Will be interesting to see if Mendez had an off night or Vombaur got the confidence to win it all.  Man he was in on legs all night and is so strong

Honestly if Mendez was someone else he probably would have been hit for stalling again. Vombaur was much more active

I thought he should have been hit. I didn't count but Vombaur was in probably 5 or 6 times to once or twice for Jesse?

I agree. I would rather have a legitimate criteria win. First takedown, RT during regulation, I don't care what, but have someone leading going into OT so someone has to actually push for a takedown during the neutral 2 minutes.
