So, "he is who he is." Tend to agree, but I am looking for some hope.

Why the emphasis on him? Whats his narrative importance? The only significance I see is that at one point he looked like way better prospect than he turned out to be.

Over on the Poke board, the consensus seems to be that Young "is who he is." What do you think: if you were Taylor and co, how would you have Young spend the next month?

How else, I'd have him working out with the rest of the team. He's an R16 type guy, I think. If he gets the right draw at NCAAs he could place, but at this point I think that's a long shot. I can't imagine him getting coached up a whole lot in the last half of the season. He reminds me of Gfeller, but he's not as good as Gfeller was.

I think he is a legitimate contender to be an AA this year. He could also easily go 2-2. I think there is overreaction to some narrow losses that also involved questionable refereeing (McDougald and Realbuto).

I'm not sure about AA, but dude will be a landmine in his bracket for sure

I guess bc I already asked about Witcraft, and Young is the other guy I'm worried about going 0-2.

yeah but thats not whats gonna hurt OSU, its gonna be if guys who look tough about aren't locks to place by any means (hughes, fish, amine, jamison, surber) don't perform, or they have no finalists...I haven't looked into it but I feel like young isn't gonna place, and if he does if not gonna be high....and hell every point in important but I don't think he's gonna define the team unless he goes on a crazy run which doesn't seem likely.

I think OSU has 3 locks to AA: Hamiti, Plott, and Hendrickson. I give Jamison and Amine about 75% chance to AA. I give 50% chance to AA to Fish and Spratley, and 25% or less to Hughes, Young and Surber. I might be selling Surber short, but he's never done that much at NCAAs.

The best guess for the placements (if they place) Hamiti, Hendrickson, Plott all finish 3rd. Jamison 6th, Amine 6th, Fish 5th, Spratley 7th, Young 7th, Surber 7th, Hughes 5th.

This is all hot air, a lot can change between now and March.

Ohhh ... I understand your point now. I'm not all that worried about final team standings. I just want to watch individual Cowboys beat people they aren't supposed to beat.

I was trying to figure out the narrative significance of the topic but it was simpler than I thought.

I did not think he looked bad against Paniro. He needs a tank for his style though, he seemed as tired or more tired than Paniro at the end. He has great shot entry but does not shoot with a ton of volume. If he increased his volume I think that would go a long way for him.

He doesn't win enough because he holds his hands too close together?

Maybe is is because he cuts his hair closer than when he first started at OSU?

Could be because he has not perfected the Fireman's Carry - like the Russian wrestlers?

Or, has not trained in Tibet with Bhuddist monks for a year?

Not to worry. Surely David Taylor will touch his psyche & he'll become a 1st period Pinning Machine any day now.

He needs to gain some muscle. He's a good wrestler with good stuff, but he's not strong enough. He needs to hit the weights more than he needs to improve his technique.

Thats what they said when he was 141.  Look at Hamit, he needs more muscle correct?

You would know better than me, but I thought the talk was that he would have ideally been at 133 his first two years but couldn't because of Fix? He looks like a solid 149 this year to me, it's just a lack of consistent offense.
