Why designating cartels as terrorist organizations or using the military to go after them in Mexico will fail

I think I understand the reasoning that Trump would use different rules of engagement.   Why do you think he wouldn't?

You can't change the rules of engagement if you aren't fighting a war. We aren't at war with Mexico, where we would presumably conducting military action. Unless Mexico consented, then we would be invading a foreign country illegally. Mexico wouldn't cooperate at all. So you'd have the military in a situation without clear goals having to deal with everyone as a potential hostile because they don't want us in their country.

You're making an unfalsifiable claim. Can you prove to me I'm wrong?

What we can do is look at other similar examples from history. Did we wipe out the taliban instantly with no casualties? Al qaeda? ISIS? etc...

Since you clearly can't read nor comprehend what someone wrote I'll break it down for you.  The US Militarty could take out the cartels OPERATIONS (aka, the drug fields and where the magic happens to make the coke/heroin/etc.) with the blink of an eye with no US MILITARY CASUALTY'S (aka they could use drones to bomb the crap out of them without a single US human asset in harm's way.  No operations, no druggy druggy's being produced.  This would drastically impact the cartels.

Now if you go back and read what I wrote, I never once said anything about getting to and arresting the kingpins and their ilk did I??  That of course would be a different type of military engagement.  However, this too could be done similar to shutting down the operations but would be at the expense of drastically more innocent casualties and as I am sure the scum bags would hide out in populated areas...and of course we would never do that.

My opinion would be to take out the operations as I indicated, then use financial means to root out the kingpins...aka offer $$ to the poor people and then use our elite military forces to go get them.
