I have to admit that is one of the least masculine poses I've ever seen. Let's hope that doesn't become wrestling's version of the Heisman pose.  Can you imagine that pose on the Hodge Trophy?

It's some manga/anime pose, I'm pretty sure.  Generally associated with female characters?

Maybe it's just me but I distinguish between "most cringe" and "most unsportsmanlike."  For example, the Strickenberger celebration may well cross the line to unsportamanlike, but it's also kind of badass, despite being disrespectful.  When I think "cringe," I think Ferrari's flex + "665lb deadlift baby," or whatever the hell that is that Ridge was doing.  Not unsportsmanlike, but I literally cringed. If I had to vote, I'd give it to Ridge.

Agreed.

I don't know about that. We've talking about West Virginia girls vs Oklahoma girls. There probably wasn't 20 teeth between both sets of cheerleaders.

I think maybe you're forgetting how undiscriminating 20 year old guys are.  Did any of the teeth line up top to bottom?  Not a requirement, just curious.

You are of course welcome to your opinion, but yes I would consider pretending to murder your athletic opponent as cringey IMO

I guess.  To me, the Strickenberger thing is something where you discipline the kid when it happens, but when you're having a beer with your other coaches that night, you sort of snicker and high five each other. Whereas with the Ridge thing, you don't discipline the kid, but when you're having a beer with your other coaches that night, you just shake your head and bury you face in your hands.

I'm probably just a bad person though.

Helicopter celly around the 4 min mark on this video

lol I don’t hate this.  He still took him down easy and didn’t do anything extravagant after the match was over.

Half-joking, half-serious, how many times are you allowed to helicopter your opponent before it becomes unsportsmanlike conduct and/or stalling?

I just don't see how Strickenberger or Ramos are OK, unacceptably disrespectful to the opponent.  It's a sport where one guy establishes physical dominance over the other and then has his hand raised while the other has to stand there with their hand down, which is how you know you were the better man.  Rubbing their nose in it is bad form for many reasons, including that, if it is done enough, it will lead to actual fights.  Shouldn't the basic test be whether you'd be upset/humiliated/enraged if someone did it to you?  Wouldn't you feel that way if either of those celebrations happened to you?  I've got no problem with shaking a fist or flexing toward the crowd, but things like this that are directly at the opponent aren't cool.

As a kid I got caught in a few "Dino Bravo airplane spins" on the playground.  After about 10 spins, it is very hard to walk. I think the centrifugal forces affect the brain of the spinee more than the spinner, so this could actually be a good finishing technique.

I think there’s a distinction between Ramos and Strickenberger because Ramos’s was in the course of the actual match.  If the guy didn’t want Ramos to do that to him then he shouldn’t have let him.  Strickenberger’s however was after the match was over.  Although I guess Brent Metcalf might say stopping celebrations is fair game (actually in reality I believe he’s expressed regret over his actions towards Caldwell).

This is a good distinction and I agree the Ramos thing wasn't as bad for a few reasons, including no bad intent -- I believe it was driven by exuberance and joy and not really directed at his opponent.   I'm fact I'm a big Ramos fan, just wish he had blown kisses to the crowd instead.

But to me the point is that the opponent didn't "let him," he was overmatched and couldn't stop him, and didn't deserve to be humiliated because he's not a great wrestler.
