Why not?

He has bragged about entering open tournaments where he knew he would catch second and third string wrestlers so that he could fatten up his pinfall totals. He was very obsessed with getting the Hodge. He even jokes that Cael Sanderson only won two, just like him, because the third was only a tie.

Ok.  I don’t know what this has to do with Bo tho.   I didn’t care that he was trying for pins for the record.  This thread is about …..   Bo and Cstar usually get a bad rap for being arrogant jerks but this particular podcast is an example of where they’re more likable.   I just wanted to point out that it is pretty arrogant and generally unlikable to say some random D1 big 10 ILL wrestler is a crappy wrestler and laugh about it.  Wouldn’t you say that’s not super likable behavior on a public podcast?

i didn’t even comment on how they were griping / whining about Cstar not winning the hodge primarily cause people don’t like his attitude and he craps on the hodge in general as if he didn’t need/want it.   They didn’t go into the detail that based on bonus wins Cstar is the worst 4 timer we have out there.  Very few majors - tech falls - pinfells compared to the other 4 timer crew.

You're just not sufficiently appreciating the thespian masterwork that Carter "I'm really just a swell guy" Starocci is putting on. He's actually a very humble and bright man who spends his free time working the soup kitchen. Which often interferes with his class schedule.

It is the same attitude as Bo. Askren went to the tournaments because he thought the guys sucked. I do not know why you fail to grasp that. If you do not like Bo implying it, you will not like Askren implying it.

I said implying because the exact words Bo used was "this kid from Illinois who is not very good, but was real squirrelly". The guy finished his career 40-56. I would say Bo was accurate and gentle.

Yeah “likeable” may be up for debate, but Starocci in particular wasn’t nearly as insufferable as the act he plays on social media.  Nickal seemed like his normal self but this one wasn’t quite as boring as his other episodes I’ve watched IMO.

To your last point, I thought it was interesting at one point when Starocci commented about guys “stalling and doing nothing,” but he certainly has spent a lot of time on the ankle ride in matches against the better guys.

They also kinda ragged on Oklahoma State a bit, saying “who’s their new coach again?” and proclaiming that they would never catch PSU.

Tigers were known to readily defeat lions back in the Roman Coliseum days. Tigers are bigger and longer than Lions, and are more adept to fighting one on one where as the Lion relies on his pride to fight for them typically.

Back then Opens actually had starters.  Crazy concept, I know.  But yes, some lower non-varsity guys too.  I think his choice of opens was perhaps the most suspect.  He wasn't going to the Midlands (I don't think) but random mid-major tourneys, maybe even lower division tourneys?

Paraphrasing.   I wanted the all time psu fall record…. Chasing I think nolf

i was wrestling this Illinois guy who was not talented / sucked….. while Cstar laughed

that’s humble pie bo lol.

Would you prefer fake humility? I don't care if a guy talks crap a long as he backs it up as long as he's not flipping off the crowd or something asinine like that. You must've hated Muhammad Ali.

Who did that, and how did you do it 😄 Oh, that's how the forum handles the brown word. I have to admit, I nearly "browned" myself laughing when I saw that "I poop my pants, don't laugh at me" 😄

Tigers are bigger.  Male lions have that mane protecting their necks.  I think the most common way for those big cats to kill is strangulation?

The way mma fans react to him should be all you need to understand.  New crowd.  Same arrogance.   Same high % of fans who think he’s a dik.   No bubbles no troubles my friend.   Everyone doesn’t have to be liked.

maybe the thing is.  A guy like mcgreggor.   He’s certainly a dik.   But he’s a likable one.  He’s funny.  He has a personality.  He can tell a funny story while insulting his upcoming opponent.   That’s similar to ali imo.   Bo has no personality.   Maybe that’s the difference?

They cut off oxygen to the brain.

So lions would have limited success on this forum?  🙅‍♀️

I didn’t glean anything interesting from this interview. Just two dudes congratulating each other for an hour. That’s fine lol. The bar is low for good behavior from these two I suppose

McGregor can't back up his fat mouth. I'm hoping he comes back to MMA so I can see his leg get broken again.

True, Bo is lacking in the humor department.

He backed it up plenty in his prime.   He was super dangerous for a while.  I agree now he’s sort of done.

Oh yeah Starocci also called the Brands brothers “midgets” and said he watched Nelson Brands “lick white dog crap for 7 minutes”

LOL! Well, the first part of his comment was true 😄 I think I like Carter a little more now (which isn't saying much).
