Did Nebraska decide to wear the vacant John Smith cap just in the nic of time, having practically half their lineup drop a weight class to subsequently get completely housed by UNI?

In all seriousness, how do you all think this is going to pan out?  Looking especially for input from folks who have personally felt the bite of big pulls on performance.

I know they are rolling the dice to try to get Allred and Pinto to the podium, but to my eye they both look slower than they did last year.  I’ve never heard of a rough cut having less of an impact as the year goes on.

I think they will look like a totally different team on Saturday night, against a very strong Minnesota team. UNI is no slouch of a team by the way, I think they wrestled at their very best and Nebraska wrestled at their worst.

Could Nebraska be fighting the flu? It was reported Minnesota was during the holiday. Hopefully both teams have their starters ready to battle on Saturday.

It was really on 2 guys that are cutting down, Pinto and Allred, neither have AA'd yet. Wilson and Taylor were returning to their natural weights.

That was Allred's first loss of the year. He didn't look as good in the regular season at 197 last year either after he won the B1G his freshman year.

Pinto doesn't look as strong or the same, but he did just avenge a loss from CKLV.

I'd say jury is still out, but their results seem comparable.

It could also be their first time cutting down to and competing at the new weight. Takes a minute for you to adjust to competing at a lower weight, that's what I'm cracking it up to anyway. UNI looked lights out though.

They have been rolling out this lineup all year.

I think Allred and Taylor have both looked very good at their new weights. Pinto however has not. Sometimes being big for a weight does not matter when your glycogen stores are completely empty and then you go on to further deplete them during a match.

Indeed. Between you and @ILLINIWrestlingBlog there is some definite funk on this board...:classic_dry:

Is this why I'm not allowed access to the Ohio State Club or is it just the "grown up" qualification?  🤨

BTW:  I'm sure IWB is anxiously awaiting the sig bet offer.
