Barr over Beard was the biggest shock to me.  I wasn't shocked that Barr could possibly win - but that he would do it so convincingly...

Barr looks like a serious NC contender. I can't wait for him to get into the meat of the schedule. He has a chance to wrestle Buchanan, Cardenas and even Elam in duals this year.

Same.  I figured Beard would win, with the odds of a Barr upset about the same as Beard putting up bonus.  I didn't have Barr winning by bonus on the radar.

Per Wrestlstat, that's only the third time in 7 years of NCAA competition anyone's put up bonus on Beard, the other two being majors by Buchanan and Hidlay.

If that's any indication, Barr is going to be a load.

Barr has yet to lose in college…

I think Barr is extremely coachable. Beard has been quite good against PSU 197's the last few years and it seemed as though the staff told Barr how to wrestle him and he executed that perfectly. I mentioned before how he was able to make the adjustments in a month to beat Sinclair and potentially did the same in less time to beat cochran. I think if he has a blueprint to follow hes going to be a hard out for anyone. I'm not yet ready to say he can go with Buchannen and verdict is out still on where AJ is at but I went from thinking he would have a hard time AA'ing to putting him high on the podium in a few weeks and this may not be his optimal weight.

Yes, Barr was very impressive, especially given that he looks a bit small for 197.  Probably better at 184. Beard looked to have 10-15 pounds on him.

Is he too short?

I predicted Beard would win, but Barr came at him like a dog on a bone.

I read some comments that Penn State looked not too sharp or energetic or whatever. I didn't see it like that. I thought the Lehigh wrestlers showed some toughness. That Rozinsky at 157 looked like a pretty good wrestler to me. He's gonna AA at some point, and maybe sooner rather than later.

Loved Haines and Barr pulling in the leg and beating tough sprawls when the other wrestler looked in better position. Those guys are strong.

Will Mirasola be his first collegiate loss next year at wrestle offs????

Doubtful. He smacked Mirasola a couple weeks ago.

Lehigh's ability to develop good wrestlers into great wrestlers has been super impressive as of late. Rozinksy was probably a top 10ish guy at his weight last year in high school but he took 3 losses in season two to consiglio and once to manville. He also wrestled 144 last year so it seems like their weight room is pretty stellar with guys being able to grow into weight classes.

144 last year? Whoa. He didn't look thick at 157.

He beat Mirasola, 11-0, at the Black Knight Invitational.

I don't see how either Mirasola brother could be a depth guy, next year this team could have C. Mirasola, Sealey, Facundo, Cochran all as depth.

Davis looks all of 133 - he must have been miserable last year cutting to 125

He does, but I think he might have just lifted and grown in the offseason. He didn't strike me as a huge 125er last year
