Local radio guy really likes the harmonica player for WAR, Lee Oskar.  He lives just north of Seattle as an aside.

I really like Robert Plant but there are others.   I love a good growling harmonica, it is a great addition to the music.

I've always been partial to the folks who had the neck-brace harmonica and a guitar in their hands. Give me Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young. That's just so bad ass. Maybe the most talented harmonica player in a rock band is John Popper of Blues Traveler. But he did that and vocals, and never did both at the same time. Cheers!

The neck rig made me think of Bob Dylan, particularly on "The Times, They Are A Changin'"

Yeah, I like Neil Young's harmonica playing.   Is it the best.   I don't think so.   But it is good.   The guy from blues traveler is a monster harmonica player, but it is just too much and isn't much compelling after a 15 seconds or so.   Just fast and the same thing.   But he is good no doubt.   The way he hits single notes is pretty amazing.
